Messi

My friend lectured me about his greatness (which he is phenomenal) because I told him that Messi probably wouldn't be as successful in the Premier League. My argument: Messi's insane in the Spanish game, but the English league requires a bigger, more physical striker.
What say you?

:not this shite again:
He's scored against Man United in the CL Final, and put four against Arsenal this year. Outside of the Stoke Cities of the world just hacking at him, he would do fine.

You're right. Now that I think about it, I literally praised Tevez for the same reason I just said Messi wouldn't be as successful. I'm an idiot today more than usual.

Arshavin plays well in the Premier League at a shade under 5'8", and he has half the talent of Messi.

Messi and Rooney are amazing. Both are much better than some of the bigger strikers that are flopping pussies. Size doesn't matter in soccer except for keeper. Most of the top keepers are over 6 ft

Last year in La Liga teams like Madrid resorted to hacking at Messi's heal ALL GAME LONG in order to take him out of the game and he still scored. Once teams stopped doing that he scored even more so I think he'd be successfull anywhere.
Also in the limited amount of time i've watched the EPL, it seems as if the defenders in that league are, for the most part, slow. Messi is, strong, agile, quick, and aove all a great decision maker. He would undoubtedly be a success in any league, of course I think in the EPL it would take him a little while to get used to things but that's just my take.
And there is this valid argument between Messi and Ronaldo being the best player in the world., in which my vote obviously goes with Messi, but if Messi were to ever go to the EPL I'd think he'd have similar success to Ronaldo.
ETA: but a better comparison would be with Tevez like you said.

My dream scenario is United throwing down the money gauntlet and pulling in Messi to attack with Rooney. Speaking of Tevez, though, it has to make you wonder what sort of things would make Tevez turn down United, knowing they were throwing the room at him. United's decision making as a club has bothered me recently.
I do find Messi the be the the best player in world right now. I just think he'd also have to get out of the gunslinger, quick playstyle of the Spanish leagues which may throw him off for a bit.

Arsenal plays a style similar to Barca, with a modus operandi of quick passing and possession. The Gunners have failed to win the title in recent years because of the lack of physical defenders and consistent strikers.

MEssi would do well at a Man Utd or Arsenal because they play similarly to Barca. His talents would be wasted at most other English clubs because they don't have to players to support Messi's style of play.

The guy in the middle did ok and he's not half the player Messi is.

Every time I start to think Messi is overrated b/c of how he sometimes plays (like in the beginning of the match today), he goes and scores more goals.
