Please, did you see the challenge 2 minutes before where Tiote threw one into Mikel's head? Mikel went straight up and had his arm up to protect himself-- from Tiote who came flying into his elbow(which would've been Mikel's head had his arm not been up). Unfortunate, yes, but Tiote was in the wrong if anyone was.

We will be looking at 6 minutes of stoppage. Possibly longer
He got hit in the face with the elbow, but luckily for him he landed on his tailbone and didn't suffer any whiplash. His head didn't hit the ground after landing on his arse.

Purposefully protecting himself, yes. Tiote flew into a ball where he would've been far late anyway, Mikel had position.

Yep. Clearly a deliberate elbow. I would suspect that Mikel's year is probably over and he'll most likely miss the opener next season.

I just rewound it, that took 7 minutes from first whistle to carrying him off. Definitely no less than 6 minutes will be added.

I'm listening to the Chelsea broadcast and they said Mikel's action was "obviously unintentional".
