He’s just way overstayed his welcome. Today wasn’t his worst job individually but he’s been trying to recreate this clinical possession side that has long since died off. Never figured out the striker position, never figured out how to use his 3 attackers who start together for Bayern Munich. The three at the back with lead footed Ginter was always awkward. Never found his true 6 in the midfield, tried to shoehorn Kroos in that spot with Goretzka who’s a prototypical 8. Kimmich, Kroos, and Goretzka probably gives him the edge he was looking for.

Southgate should learn something by letting Grealish link up with Shaw. But England has an excellent chance at progressing to the final, looking at their side of the draw, even playing the way they are now.

Keep doubting England. They are the most talented team in this tournament- more talented than France (RIP), Germany, Italy. Not pretty but effective. You can’t beat England if you can’t score.

My man, did you see Declan Rice try to dribble? They might have the highest technical level of the remaining teams, with only Spain and Italy their equal, but Southgate has been getting bailed out by the poor choices of other managers this tournament. It's also been a tremendous advantage that they've played all four of their games at Wembley.

In this part of SC (Conway) almost everyone from here traces their ancestry back to Northern England (primarily Yorkshire and County Durham), mine included. As far as clubs go, I have a soft spot for Sunderland and Millwall.
