Seems to be a lot of angliphobes in here. I don't really get it.

England is like the USA of Europe. They are the best so all the others hate them.

Rooney was good today but playing him wide unbalances the team.

Play him as the 10 or striker or leave him on the bench.

I have not disagreed with you on that, see when he play the #10 hes the best on the pitch like today

Hopefully England will get a more progressive coach. The movement here was pretty terrible.

England really isn't THAT out of it.

They aren't at all. If the favored team wins the three remaining group games England will almost certainly go through.

They can't start Welbeck next match. Playing Rooney central really limits their options for the wings though. Sterling and who else?

Exactly but in scouser eyes Rooney was not the best player out there for England.

But busted his arse for 90 mins and was unlucky not to have 3 goals.

I never said anything about Rooney, but he was the best player out there for England today. Hell he proved me wrong, as I thought he should have been on the bench after the Italy game. Sturridge was alright but most of the team was invisible today. Gerrard, as much as I love him, did not have the best of games. Made some good passes and tackles at some points, and at others was nowhere to be found or misplaying shite that I'd never expect him to do. Honestly, he's probably worn out from this season. He just doesn't have the legs that he used to and it's shown for probably the past month and a half now

Yeah... but Sturridge, much like most of the England team today, disappeared for more than half the game. He was great the last 25minutes or so, but wasnt a threat or did much for most of the game. Im a huge Sturridge fan as well. He was solid today. Just disappeared a good bit.

But, that Rooney goal all started with him.

Likewise, starting Gerrard at the base of a 2-man midfield sets him up for failure. Yes he was shite today and should start on the bench if Roy is hellbent on that dumb arse formation

unlucky
I find it amusing how often this word is used in England. Premier League and national team. Failing to take chances =/= "unlucky." The ball goes where the players kick it.
