Brazil was the only team that seemed not to really care. And even then they were only missing Oscar and Neymar. That's the normal team Brazil rolls with.

Dunga was an idiot who just didn't call people up. Guys like Firmino and Felipe Anderson he just didn't rate. Peru actually brought a bit of a homegrown B team. But everyone else brought their absolute A team.
Since the "actual" copa is only held once every 4 years now, a lot of these guys are only going to play in 3, maybe 4 in their careers. And a lot of these teams, basically everyone except Argentina and Brazil, know the chances of winning a WC are slim to none. This is a rare chance for silverware. frick Argentina hasn't won a tournament since the 93 Copa.
