Something about starting a CONCACAF series of friendlies and stuff in between WCQ where they can only play regional teams. UEFA doing something similar starting next year. Gonna suck for actually good competitive teams who want to schedule friendlies with other good competitive teams that play on real fields (ie UEFA, CONMEBOL etc). But as usual it will be boon for the small shitty teams.

May be incorrect on some of this but that's what I know so far.

You're pretty spot on. Basically it's going to be great for everyone, but horrible for US and Mexico. International dates will be swallowed up by these games instead of friendlies against say Italy and Germany and the like.

Nations League in UEFA will be part of qualifying for next Euros in some way, though it's a bit convoluted to explain in one post. Might be worthy of a thread.

Some theories suggest it might accelerate the potential of Mexico to CONMEBOL, but given enhanced access to the World Cup in CONCACAF, I doubt it. US and Mexico could just be ill-prepared when they get there.

They even said plain as day the goal is to make the smaller nations more competitive. Who gives a shite because it will make the few good teams worse in the process.

But hey who doesn't want to see us take on St Lucia in a competitive match right?
