Marco Reus will leave and BVB's run will be over: so who's next in the Bund?

There are rumors that Reus has agreed to terms with Barcelona, his buyout doesn't come into play until 2015 so that's probably when he'll leave.
Gundogan will probably leave soon as well, probably after the World Cup.
So who's the next German team to challenge Bayern Munich? Conventional wisdom says it should be Schalke or Bayer Leverkusen but they never live up to it, so the answer is
Volkswagen is making money and they're starting to put it into the club. Over the last couple of transfer windows they've set club transfer records with Luiz Gustavo and Kevin De Bruyne.
They're currently 5th in the Bundesliga, but only 2 points out of the Champions League. That's the key for them, they need to make the CL if they want to keep building the club.
Another key is holding on to players. Diego is always rumored to be leaving so I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone. Luiz Gustavo is a guy who's coveted by big teams, Barcelona seems habitually linked to him. Hopefully the release clause doesn't bite them in the arse. Tweezy thinks Max Arnold is their future and he's the guy they should hold on to for sure.
They also need another striker. Olic may die on the field.
Why should you like them? I don't know, they have an American on their reserve squad, who'll probably never make the full squad, but he is just 21.
Another candidate is
As long as Lucien Favre is there, they'll be damn good and Max Kruse is a monster. Plus they've been linked to Fabian Johnson so then you'd have to root for them.

As long as Klopp is at Dortmund I think they have a chance, but I could see lots of teams trying to pry him away. I think he'll stay till 2016, when I think his contract will run out, but he'd be a great hire for any top club.

Weird that the one team league had 2 teams in the champions league final last year and four teams still in it this year. Bayern would be running away with every league.

I think Klopp is gone soon too. If not this summer then next when reus leaves.

Why is it that seemingly everyone wants to leave Dortmund?
Is it simply salary?
With their recent success, pretty relevant history and what seems like great fan support, it would seem that more of their top players would see them as more than a brief stop to showcase talent.
However, even with losing Reus etc, they'll still be pretty good if they continue to reinvest but, yeah, they're already a dot in Bayern's rearview window.
They need to step up the second half this year because I think they'll really have problems with transfer requests if they miss CL this year.

They were very cheap up until recently, not paying high wages/housing the team in hostels on the road.
The current players probably want to leave because Götze left, Lewandowski is leaving and they know Klopp is gone soon.

Wish it would be HSV. Their board has got some grand master plan called HSV Plus, but they've got a long way to go.

Yeah I like Hamburg too. Adler is so good. I really think Wolfsburg has huge potential.

I'd say Bayern vs the rest of the Bundesliga right now is definitely a lot of parody, but I prefer my sports leagues to have parity. I'm sure that's what you meant, though. Just messing with you.

I think that's pretty over-exaggerated. Götze and Lewandowski were leaving regardless of if Bayern put in a bid or not. That's more of a Dortmund problem than anything. They shouldn't have been so cheap and small time when their revenue suggests they're a major club.

This happens in every league from time to time. No one was complaining a couple of years ago when Dortmund was running away with the league.
Plus, this year has a lot of really interesting story lines. Borussia Mönchengladbach is in 3rd place, ahead of Borussia Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen is in 2nd place with a relatively new manager and after just selling one of their top players to Chelsea. Schalke just poached Sidney Sam from Leverkusen, but I don't hear anyone complaining about that.
Wolfsburg is spending more money than they have before and they're only 2 points out of the Champions League spot after just signing Kevin De Bruyne.
Schalke is currently in 7th place, tied with Hertha Berlin. If they don't finish in a Champions League spot, they'll be set back a couple of years and they always make a second half of the season run to finish 4th.
The battle for the Champions League is going to be awesome with the 3-7 spots all being up for grabs. I'd say the level of parity is really high when a recently promoted side is only 4 points away from a CL spot and when a team like Wolfsburg, who finished with 43 points all of last year is already at 30 and just 2 points away from the CL. And when a CL finalist from last year is barely holding on to the last spot in the CL this year.
Let's not act like the Premier League is a league where there's someone new winning it every year. There's been 3 different champions in the last 10 years and 5 different champions in the Bundesliga.
It just so happens that Bayern Munich is in the league and they're in the middle of a "golden age" type of run.
