Anybody else watching the West Ham match? Lopes looks great. It migth be a time to get him some PL playing time, while Nasri is hurt.

I went home because of the snow.
I'm hiding on a "work call."

No and he's not on the bench. I don't know if there is a set cup roster that they are limited to or not.
Jovetic is on the bench.

From the BBC:

quote:

"It could be worse, you could have Moyes" was reportedly a ditty from earlier in the half.

Most of our chants tonight were about Moyes. It was awesome

Is there a website that tells you what the crowd is chanting? I can never pick it up unless the "watchers" say what it is.

I'm glad I am not the only one who has trouble deciphering the songs/chants from the crowd.

I thought the same. He had a very good game today. That run through the defense and pass to Aguero for the second goal was pretty impressive.

What is Nastasic's problem this year? He was great last year.

Posting in reply to the question in the match thread. Seems this is the only Man City thread that's not locked.

There's been some injury issues but I think Natasic larger issue has been the change in tactics.

Pelligrini's more aggressive tactics than Manicini's demand that City CBs now

1) pick out more difficult passes since City pushes players further up the pitch quicker without an extra "safe" pass option

2) in addition to picking out more difficult passes the CBs are also asked to often drive the ball forward when the passing lanes are cut off

3) Mancini employed much more defensive coverage for his CBs meaning they were able to keep the game in front of them and had to defend after being turned much less often

Nastasic hasn't looked comfortable at all in adapting to this different role, whereas I agree that he was superb for Mancini.

In fact, Montella (the Fiorentina coach who ok'd the sell of Nastasic to City when he took over) said this about Nastasic fitting Mancini's tactics better than his own (which are similar to Pelligrini's) at the time of the deal.

You can see why DeMichelis (for all his problems) is also preferred to Lescott in this same regard and even why Javi Garcia was tried out at CB early in the season.

In short, Nastasic may figure it out with time but in the meantime expect City to bring in at least a starting CB option this summer to pair with Kompany and expect it to be a "modern" "ball playing" defender.

I hesitated to bump it not wanting to cause any City fans a moment of panic.

Odd that the other 2 City season threads are locked. They actually have much more recent responses than that one stickied TD Championship thread.

It is annoying that that thread is not unstickied. All that needs to be done is start a help board thread linking it and ask for it to be deleted.
