Yeah, completely anecdotally, the only sport that directly competes with MLS for me is MMA
My barriers to watching even though I have access to pretty much every game:
1. I’m not browsing games on ESPN+. I only go there with purpose, and I haven’t found any of it compelling enough to make appointment television, although I will definitely enjoy a game from time to time.
2. The Sunday time-slots suck in the Eastern time zone. I will actually flip to games if I happen to see them on TV, but having them split over two networks confuses me, and I don’t really feel like spending my Sunday evenings/nights watching games that I don’t really have a vested interest in.

The League's central revenues are distributed to clubs in the following manner: UK broadcast revenues 50 per cent equally shared; 25 per cent shared based on how often a club’s matches are broadcast in the UK (known as "Facility Fees"); 25 per cent shared based on where a club finish in the league table (known as "Merit Payments") Central Commercial revenues: Equally shared by clubs International broadcasting revenues: Equally shared by clubs
And the table is still skewed between the so called top 6 and everyone else... they need to all share European competition revenues too just like CFB conferences share everyone’s bowl revenue.

quote:that’s not gonna work if 20 MLS clubs are run like major league entities and maybe 4 Liga MX clubs are. The only MX clubs MLS should want are America, Cruz Azul, Chivas, and Pumas
LigaMX also does pretty decent ratings wise in the US

Tigres is a massive club and so is Monterrey
You might want to actually research these things before claiming they are not good for that business aspect
There a more than a few MLS clubs you could cut as well

Monterey is LigaMXs most valuable club
Tigres are second
Now they’re probably not as valuable as The Wolves obviously
But they’re worth the most in Mexico

a full merger would be dumb unless they're gonna make MLS1 and MLS2

Oh i don’t know, I was just saying among Liga MX those are the most valuable
I bet you can find something that has the most valuable MLS teams

Atlanta United is $500 million followed by the two LA clubs and Seattle according to Forbes.
No Liga MX team is valued over $100 million.

It’s ironic that SCH is so hard on me despite we having so much in common. I rather think he frequented all of me favourite Hampstead haunts during his tenure there

In FIFA's "International Transfer Market Snapshot" for Jan. 2021, pretty wild to see professional soccer leagues in America tied for 4th in the world in total outgoing transfers, trailing only Brazil for non-European countries. LINK
As far as total transfer fees generated, a very impressive 7th. It's made all the more intriguing by the fact that the biggest outgoing transfer (Bryan Reynolds) doesn't count yet b/c it's technically a loan. Plus, Austria's is almost solely Szoboszlai's move to RB Leipzig LINK

yup the Brazil type of league is what we should strive for, creating strong national team players and then selling them off.
Just sucks the clubs don't get all the money from the transfer fees in MLS
