re: Louisiana Soccer Association just released their Coronavirus guidelines
My daughter will be a freshman in HS next year, and I just got an email about signing up for indoor games that are supposed to start on June 14. So the LHSAA is apparently ok with kids playing actual games during the same time frame that LSA is saying the kids have to sit 6 feet apart when on the sidelines and absolutely no contact.

Meanwhile, BRSC is going to offer 2 "voluntary" practices a week for an hour with your current team from June 8 - July 23, since with the current LSA regs that's all they can offer. The player placement process is also going to be a cluster as well if it happens in an environment where kids aren't allowed to touch each other

I know youth soccer isn't the biggest concern in the grand scheme of things, but it's just so damn frustrating to see people like Tucker who are in a race to see who can be most "aware of the danger" and make sure everybody knows they are going to go above and beyond for our safety.

Neither lhsaa or lsa has oversight over indoor place.

If school teams are playing there I would assume it is in a somewhat informal way and not mandatory so it’s not done officially by school and so not under lhsaa oversight.

They are going to treat it like midyear tryouts. Meaning, if a kid was on a roster last season, he will be placed on that same roster this season. They will use tryouts to simply fill in the rosters in the event players do not return.

Yeah, our team manager shared that with us yesterday. That's probably fair, I'm not sure how you could hold a true tryout with the current restrictions as they are set up

NFHS put out recs today.

Gives a green light for soccer to start games in Phase 3. Now let’s see if the powers that be follow this advice.

Is that for BRSC?

Yeah. Basically you can "lock in" your spot by saying you want to come back to the team you were on last year. If you do that, you don't even go to player placement. However, you can opt to go and tryout if you would like to be re-evaluated or compete to move up if there are spots available.

They said that no one would move down if you lock in and don't go to placement, but depending on how numbers work out I'm not sure if that's possible in all cases. My daughter had 18 on her team last year. We lose one for sure, but let's say 4 players from out of club try out and all should be on that team. They won't carry 23, so do they tell the new players too bad or drop the bottom 4 down a level? Gonna be interesting

Meanwhile they had travel baseball tournaments last weekend.

From what I was told, they will deal with that on a team by team basis and make sure the best kids are on the black teams. But, that throws a wrench in everything...not sure how they keep all the kids on red if they are moving some former black players down to make room for new kids.

They do black all the way down to U11? I know Mandeville waits to make an A squad until U13...Fire does the park squads until then too. The club my son came up in had an A squad from day one.

They seem to keep it going well even with being competitive so young.

Always fun to watch...the tough kids from the city. My son’s team was ready this spring, too bad it got cancelled. Went up to Birmingham and played some highly ranked, really scrappy, teams and did quite well. Earned a top 80 or so national ranking (Sinc). Then boom, all shut down...the week of our BRSC match in Mandeville. Oh well, BRSC won the league (they were going to even if we knocked them off), I hope they get a shot at nationals.

re: Louisiana Soccer Association just released their Coronavirus guidelines
He is, got first team all conference and offensive player of the year last season...about to start workouts fior 8th grade. Hopefully he can throw it more this season, I think it’ll be tough sledding to run it as much as he did last season.

This year he gets more kicking duties as well, last year there were no kickoffs and punts. Kickoffs will be fun to watch. He never really gets to kick anything as hard as he can. Probably need to break out the small balls again, his usually kicks with an LSU game ball.

Here’s to hoping he doesn’t get injured again. Last year was a separated AC joint and a broken growth plate in his left arm.
