Gotcah. If he does stay how do you see them using Aspas? If Suarez goes, is Aspas the clear striker?
What about Sturridge
What about Sturridge

Hard to really say at this point. I think Sturridge is the starting striker, even with Suarez on the field.
Suarez-Sturridge-Downing
Suarez-Sturridge-Aspas
Sterling-Sturridge-Aspas
Sterling-Aspas-Downing
Sterling-Borini-Downing
There are so many possible combinations. The starting 3 will be some form of Suarez/Sturridge/Aspas or Downing. No clue if Rodgers rates Aspas higher than Downing yet. We will see.

in some of the preseason it looked like he was running some version of 4-2-2-2...
It's really hard to say since we havent seen Sturridge and Suarez (for the most part), yet...
Speaking of which, is he going to be ready for the start of the season.. Without Suarez, I hope so... our poor start last season killed us...

We will bring in one or two more players. Aspas is a huge upgrade over Carroll. He can play anywhere in the front 3. Another year under Sterling's belt and he is like a new signing himself. This LB (or wide player) we're bringing in on loan as well.
Plus, Coutinho only scratched the surface last year. With half a season under his belt and a full off season with the club he is gonna wreck shite.

Or maybe some teams will have "figured him out"... sorry, just playing devils advocate for the day... I promise I'll have my red colored glasses back on tomorrow...

I dont doubt we will be improved, but I want to improve enough for 4th place. If not, whats the point in holding on to Luis...
We improved by 9 pts on the table from 2011-12 to 2012-13. 9 more points would put us at 70. Which, last year, still wouldn't put us above Tottenham for 5th.
This will be an interesting season. You never fricking know. But I reckon we'll finish 5th or 6th.

Weren't we top four in points from January on last season?
I think its very possible we are in the fight for top four this year based upon that. We should only be improved.
Manu - new coach, no real additions yet
Chelsea - new coach
Man City - new coach
Everton - new coach
Arsenal - no real additions as of yet
The only team that finished ahead of us last year that I think has definitely improved is Tottenham. I expect everyone else to have some issues during the year adjusting.
I'm sure if we are on the oustide looking in come January 1, Suarez may force a move at that point. He could step right into the knock out round of the CL for some team, right?

yeah, he sure as shite wont be cup tied...
That just may be the optimal time to sell and get great value for him. If a CL contender thinks that they are missing one piece of the puzzle and him not being cup tied... his value may be at a premium if he comes back from suspension and performs at a high level with no incidents..

There was about a 10 week stretch when our form was top 4. I think we finished the second half of the season 5th though.

Two rumours making rounds are Diego Costa and Salomon Rondon.

I'm hearing £21mm for Costa...
he is one to get excited about, big fricker (6'3") who likes to play out wide (left)... Many at AM feel he was better than Falcao last year...
We would have one of the most hated front lines in Europe... Costa is a nasty shite talking SOB..
edit: £21.8mm

Andy Hunter from the guardian is reporting... pretty reliable. supposedly, not a Suarez replacement either.
Ok, red colored glasses back on!

I play with Atletico a lot on FIFA and have always been interested in a possibility of Diego Costa plying his trade in Inglaterra. Someone on SB says: "He’s a quadruple threat: possesses Jordi Alba–esque petulance, is a nutter like Pepe, brings the game into disrepute a la Luis Suarez and comes from the Joey Barton-school of talking trash."

You know who else expressed interest in Deigo Costa at the beginning of the window?
Yup, you guessed it right, Arsenal.
According to Andy Hunter we've met his release clause.
