Also, Assaidi is cup tied and won't debut against Hearts on Thursday. He can play in the group stages if we get there.

Bipolar Phil Dowd. Watch the whole thing
Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Dowd for the loss. Skrtel's "defending" on that play was completely to blame. I agree with the foul and the PK. Not sure if the red card was right or not, but I've seen a bunch of people saying that a "last man" foul in a goal scoring opportunity is a red by the rule book. That may be true (I'm really not sure), but the video shows that Dowd doesn't necessarily think that.

Just looked it up:
I guess Suarez turned a little bit away from the goal.
quote:
"A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences: [...] 4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area); 5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick."
I guess Suarez turned a little bit away from the goal.

It may have had something to do with there wasn't a Pool defender within 30 yards of Agger as well. The contact was weak but if it's a foul, it's a red there.

Yea red was right in that instance.

I'm going to go with blind Randy loyalty and disagree.

Not sure if Richardson should have gotten a red in the second clip. He did turn a little away from goal, but it was still a clear scoring opportunity.

Neither Richardson, nor Agger, should have been red IMO.

I agree... What the hell was that call on Skrtel?
Ahhh... Screw it...

I agree. By definition I think it was a red, but I have watched enough soccer to know that yellows have been given in that exact situation plenty of times. Long was looking for the contact.

I did a quick Google search and neither "YNWA" nor the Liver Bird are actually trademarked.
Since you're in law school, help me out here.
The knuckles shirt with "YNWA" on them would be legal to sell right? Nobody owns the image right to a knuckle and I don't think "YNWA" is trademarked (someone owns the copyrights to the song, not sure that you can do the same with letters). What you think?

To be honest, I haven't taken any intellectual property classes so I couldn't tell you.

Tomorrow is match day against Hearts.

Gerrard, Suarez, Skrtel and Johnson are all being rested for the City match. Jose Enrique and Joe Cole won't play because of injuries. Assaidi is ineligible.

Time for Henderson and Carroll to step up.
