So I just watched the tivo for last nights game (finished my last exam at 930pm). Hate to break it to you guys, but everyone's favorite midfielder actually played pretty well yesterday.

Here's to Chuck Adam?

Yeah, frick that.

It was a fricking anomaly, but I'm not surprised. He wasn't half-bad last year when paired with Lucas either. His form dipped big time when he had to play with Gerrard and Spearing. That midfield lacked a real ball winner and it highlighted Adam's weakness: defending.

With Lucas, Suso and Adam, they had a destroyer/passer/creator combination that Liverpool has been searching for since Xabi left. Lucas really allows the midfielders to stay forward, instead of retreating all the way back in defense.

Notice when Spearing was in the game...all of the forwards and midfielders had to play box to box. Shelvey, Aquilani, Cole and Sterling all made tackles inside of their own box. Spearing's positioning and ability to break up play is so poor that the entire squad has to retreat into defense.

This is why I'm so excited to see Lucas/Aquilani/Gerrard. Destroyer/passer/creator combination sent from the heavens (hopefully).

And if Chuck can play like he did yesterday with Lucas on a more consistent basis, I would feel much better about playing come from behind football. Too many times last year we'd drop behind and never be able to catch up. Dropping Aqua for Chuck a goal down might be a huge difference if Adam can play not so awful more consistently. He was constantly a threat going forward. It was actually fun to watch.

Gaston Ramirez just scored on a beautiful free kick. His fee just skyrocketed.

As much as I want him at Anfield, I don't see how we could get him with our small £30M skirmish-chest.

FC Gomel defeats FK Renova 2-1 aggregate to advance to third round of Europa League qualification.

Confirmed now that Liverpool will travel to Belarus and play FC Gomel on Aug 2 in Rodgers' first competitive match.

One of my favorite days of the year happened today as I got home and there was a soft DHL bag sitting at my door...it's New Liverpool Kit Arrival Day. And I'm in love with this season's shirt. It's soft, it fits better than last year's shirt, and it's a shirt I can basically wear anywhere. Sorry, I'm excited and needed to share...continue with your days.

Almost the same experience here. Except I came home to a DHL note on my door asking for my signature before they would leave the package on my doorstep. There is nothing like having to wait one more fricking day at work before getting the new kit! But when I got it it was glorious!

And I've worn the shite out of the free t shirt that was included. For a free shirt it is surprisingly very good good quality.

Supposedly, they are willing to open up the check book if Rodgers is sure the target is a "special player."

I don't know enough about Ramirez to know if he qualifies.

Now is good a time as any to watch him since he is featuring in Uruguay's lineup for the Olympics. I was keen on watching him, Suarez & Coates today but I was streaming on my iPhone at work, so I couldn't really focus. But from what I saw, he looked good.

Aquilani's agent tweeted that LFC turned down WHU's 2/16 bid for AC, but are now offering a straight 18M permanent offer for him.

By "AC", I'm assuming that's Andy Carroll?
