These have been very impressive results. I've been one of his biggest detractors but I think he's been much better lately with his lineups and tactics. Having the courage to play Cameron at center mid

and finally learning that Besler is the truth is going to go a long way. I still think we could be better at fullback but we're looking good.

Oh and Mexico has 5 ties and can't score at Azteca?

Seattle definitely deserves more games: this was the scene last night...

That ball from Cameron was stellar, no doubt.

Bradley's run on the first goal was great. So was Dempsey's.

Fabian Johnson is playing so well on the wing that I'm afraid to move him to left back. But I think our best option is to do that and have Eddie Johnson and Zusi on the wings. Maybe that's not enough defensive cover, though.

Guys are stepping up, though. That's big.

we're peaking at the perfect time. the players look more and more comfortable playing the 4-5-1 every game.

people can criticize Jurgen's squad selections, line ups, and substitutions. But as it stands you can't criticize his results.

Top of the group in qualifying, sitting pretty at the top of the hex, and the USA is passing at their all-time best. Once the defense is fully shored up, we'll be a force to reckon with.

I disagree. Fabian and Beasley were absolutely dominating the left flank last night.

Occasionally switching roles, covering for each other, both attacked and both played D. It was great to watch. As far as I'm concerned, Fab and Beasley have those two positions on lock down.

My thoughts:
Klinsmann's lineup decisions are finally working.

We give Jozy support with Dempsey up top (though slightly withdrawn) and it has clearly paid dividends. FJ was good on the left and Beasley's overlapping runs started to look even better. I hope Castillo plays LB in DMB's absence since I like what FJ brings to the attack.

Bradley needs to play forward more often. I hate to say it almost because he is so good in the deep role for us, but he has more composure on the ball than anyone in our pool except for maybe Deuce. With Cameron showing so much poise in the defensive role and putting in a more than solid showing, it really frees Bradley to move forward and spring the attack. I don't need to say any more about MB90. Y'all saw the man do work all night long.

Besler is solid. We need a better option at RB. Omar still scares me.

Seattle had a fantastic atmosphere and Harry's NOLA flag was just the icing on the cake for the SB. Could not be more proud of our performance yesterday. I really wish Beasley had put that 3rd goal away. It would have been the best goal the US has ever scored, from a team perspective.

TL;DR:

Jozy has had great service for the last 3 games. Having Dempsey to work with has been the game changer.

We almost saw 2 of the greatest US goals. First was the cross to Jozy where he chested it to Dempsey who laid it off for Bradley but his shot went just over the bar. Then there was DMB's shot that hit the post.

It really seems like the Strauss article helped clear the air around the team. I'm sure there were "come to Jesus moments" either between Jurgen and the players,or just among the players themselves.

As long as they look like they're working out there, and half-arse look like they know what they're doing I'm happy.

We haven't seen a ton of that under Klinsmann, so it's refreshing to see.

Let's hope we get something similar next week.

I'm not ready to crown him just yet. There have been some pleasing things, and our movement is better, but we are still weak at some positions, and I'm not sure why LD has been frozen out. We still have some way to go in terms of qualifying as well.

I suppose the initial period of experimentation was good for the squad as a whole. We seem to be building an identity as a squad, which is super important.

I thought I saw a NOLA flag in the front at one point waiving right by the camera.

Same here, I convinced myself it was just a similar looking flag.

So who does Klinsmann go to a left back with DMB out? I would say put Johnson there and let Zusi play on the right wing with Eddie Johnson on the left.

I'm not crowning him yet either. I just give him crap so I'll praise him when he gets it right.

Really? Panama didn't look like a very good team to me and we could have beat them with any coach.

We looked good, independent of the opponent. The foundation is there, and we are playing a much more fluid game than we ever have before. Possession play has a ways to go yet, but we are light years ahead of where we have been. JK doin work in that regard.

I have been critical of JK excluding Landon, but learning to play this well without him is not a bad thing if we keep winning.
These newer guys are being forced to step up, and their growth is evident. I'm not sure we would have seen that growth if Landon was still the focus.

I'm just now remembering the comments LD made last year about moving to a new phase of his career and no longer wanting to be "the guy", but instead more of a provider for others. He's probably not happy about sitting home, but he's got to be pleased seeing that product on the field last night. He should be able to slot in perfectly.

fricking Castillo. He shouldn't see the field on a US team from 1990 much less today. I am very curious to see what the long-term plan is for the US at that position, especially if Beasley is injured or out of form (aka he misses more than one game).
