“I’m a better player than I was six years ago in the World Cup,” Green, who turned 25 last month, told Yahoo Sports in a phone interview. “I hope I get my chance to show the coach what I can do, that I can help the team. That’s my biggest goal.”

Talks about his transition to Bundesliga 2 and the various roles he played. He’s now playing as a central mid after playing on the wing and as a forward. He hopes to get a call-up soon, honestly think he’s better than Roldan anyway.

He is without a doubt better than Roldan. I definitely think he deserves to be back in the fold.

He was very good for GF this season, especially towards the end. Seemed like this was the first season where he matched his quality with work ethic.

Would love to see him get a chance with a lower/mid table Bundesliga team

He sounds perfect for Schalke's new aspirations.

I’m curious to see what Gregg does going forward in the midfield. I feel like the best option would be Pulisic and Morris/Boyd/Healthy Nipples on the wings, and Reyna and McKennie with Adams as your 6 in the center.

That leaves you Lletget and Green as other options in the center, but I’m not sure GGG is ready to quit Bradley.

he for sure is

the difference in competition plays a huge part

Green grew so much as a player hitting rock bottom and losing his place in teams and then building his way back up

Roldan is pretty much undropable in Seattle

I want to see more of Jesus Ferreira, he has the work rate of Zardea, but with a real life first touch. I think he has a good chance to pass up Sargent if he progresses.

Yep. I think he's a more well-rounded player.

I think Ferreira's backup will be making some noise soon as well.

never thought id say this, but id welcome dave sarachan back, even if he was too old to pull off wearing shirts that tight.

that team was alot more fun to watch, i def remember Green standing out in a couple matches that year.

Ricardo Pepi.

Turned 17 in January. Has 1 goal in 15 MLS minutes so far this season. Played 71' over 7 MLS games last season. Had 11 goals and 1 assist in 13 USL League 1 games last season. Had 1 assist over 2 games for Dallas in last year's US Open Cup.

Every time I see Julian Green’s name I internally hear Roger Bennett yelling “Yuliannn!” in Jurgen Klinsmann parody voice.

Reading that article, it is kind of nuts how insane the fanfare was for Green's USMNT debut, who I think only made friendly appearances for Bayern at that point, compared to how quiet Pulisic's debut was despite him actually featuring and scoring for BVB before he was ever called up.

Ultimately that’s a good thing. It shows how far we’ve come in a short time and where the barometer now sits.

Agreed, it's just crazy how stark of a comparison it was. I guess part of it had to do with Green actually having to pick the US over a power like Germany, but even then, it's not like Sergino Dest doing the same was covered as much as Green's decision was.

I remember that shite leading SportsCenter when the news broke.

I think some of that may have been due to how close it was to the World Cup. Not only did this teenager from Bayern choose the US over Germany, but the WC is months away and our manager thinks he's worth giving a spot to over the greatest player we've ever had.

He was also the first teenager we took to the WC since Chris Henderson in 1990.
