I personally feel offended that anyone is denying Beniesta's commitment to leading the stars and stripes to the promised land.

His dad had a bigsoccer account and like a year or two ago posted in one thread about Ben... don't think he made any other posts. But I recall seeing that either the dad or both parents are from somewhere in the middle east and they came to the US before the had Beniesta. I could be wrong though.

No we have Israel to worry about? Yeah not too worried about him making the jump to the Middle East. I'm pretty sure that article about him said he's been in the u.s. over the summer playing with a u14 side I believe. It's great that he's in la masia but I hope he gets to spend a decent amount of time in the states to see what it's like to play here and spend time with other American players.

nah virtually impossible, European citizenship laws esp in places like Italy and Spain are strict.

I don't think Beniesta has any dual citizenship.

after spending all that time in spain he'll possibly be able to apply for spanish citizenship

i doubt he'll ever be THAT good, though, so i doubt he tries that route

Apparently Messi was granted Spanish citizenship in 2005. He's been there 13 of his 26 years.

Not too surprising I suppose. Brad Friedel might disagree though.
