I read that, however if you didn't get the Torres money you would be doing exactly what you criticize Chelsea for.

I'm pretty sure they would not have made the Carroll deal if the Torres deal was not in place...just my thoughts

I wouldn't pay £14 for Alonso. If it's £8 for Adam then that's a good deal IMO.

Alonso is terribly overrated.

You're not watching then. Take him out madrid's side and they'd be 15 pts behind barca. Everytime I watch them he starts everything they do

Every time I watch him, I come away highly unimpressed. We're gonna prolly have to agree to disagree on this one.

Is my boy Georginio Wijnaldum ever going to get picked up by a top side?

I would assume you are correct. Still getting conflicting reports on the Anelka situation. Can't imagine Carroll deal happens if he is part of it, but he is out for a month.

He starts for the best national team in the world, starts for a top 5 club team, and Liverpool dropped off the map after his departure. Gonna have to disagree with you, Hendo.

+1

Chelsea better hope Drogba and Torres both find form simultaneously.

If they don't wind up on top of the table by the end of the season, the Torres move would be considered a fail IMO.

What is it that unimpressed you? He's not flashy, but I'll bet he has the highest pass completion % on his team. He's probably in the top of La Liga in that category as well.

Portuguese newspaper ABola is reporting that Chelsea have sealed a deal for David Luiz. More on that as soon as we get it.

Wonder how many times Arsenal's rivals will spend more than Arsenal's record transfer fee today. Chelsea have done it twice already if Luiz goes through. Pool once.

That's fine we don't have to agree on everything, or else this board would be boring. I know he's a good player, but I don't think he's an exceptional passer, I think he's a mediocre at best tackler, he doesn't score goals, he doesn't get many assists.

I think his passing is probably his greatest strength. I haven't watched him play for RM this season but he's definitely capable of littering the run of play with 30 yard passes that find space very well. He lies too deep to roam up field and score. In terms of beginning a passing series toward goal, you'd be hard pressed to find another player who is better than Xabi at being the initial creator of a play.
