Should probably do one about the history of the game in South America and how they became the powers they are today.

Although very premature and would be better as a movie than a documentary, but I hope someone makes a Landon Donovan movie one day. Starts from when he's young, goes through his rise to stardom and how he became the face of U.S. soccer, then into his sabbatical and return. Could even go into his beef with Beckham early on. It would mainly focus on his struggle with his attitude toward the game. The ending, however, is not written yet so this one is a little far off.

If they make one about a plane crash, I would do the Torino one. My other ideas are:
-Maradona biopic - Hand of God, record transfers, drugs, coaching
-WC '94 - The decision to give it to the US, the process of building a competitive team, and the long-term effects
-Maybe something on Johan Cruyff, the Ajax Academy, and the Dutch youth system

Probably not "30 for 30" worthy but I hadn't heard about this before and came across reading FourFourTwo last night. Pretty interesting/crazy story.

Yeah, that is a very interesting moment in time, but I don't think you can do more than 10-15 minutes about that.
It's kind of like that Katarina Witt doc they showed last week. Just not enough material for a full hour.

I do wished someone made a documentary of the USMNT as the qualifying goes on. Jurgan or the USSF may not go along with it though since it may seem like a distraction.

I believe there is already a documentary about it, but it would be quite appropriate for a 30 for 30.

"The Summer of '66" A look at the 1966 World Cup. Lots of good story lines with North Korea upsetting Italy and the controversial win of England over West Germany.

"The 40 year drought" I would love this. It was crazy to think that a country didn't have a soccer league for a majority of these years, much less fail to qualify.
Let me clarify, the Cayman Islands and Madagascar both have multiple tiered soccer leagues and the USA had nothing. There was no more wild frontier or dark ages for the sport than the United States and the 1950s-1980s. The NASL was a blip and elevated the foreign stars more than the national players. And it's hard to really find anything about that era except scores. We need to look back on how far we've come.

One disadvantage the US had is the World Cup only took 16 teams at one time and only one team from CONCACAF. For the 1966 Cup the US was in the same group as Mexico and some Central American team, forgot who. The US only played one home game and that was in LA against Mexico. Asia and Africa had it worse they all had to play each other.

I would watch a lot of the suggested documentaries. Also, I think they may be able to make a good one about Italy's triumphant run in the 2006 World Cup during the match fixing scandal which affected just about everyone on the team.

A good German documentary would be one that focused on Bayern Munich's anti-Nazi history. I'd title it frick you Hitler: You're Not Even German, You Austrian Douche Canoe
