Vincent Kompany. Maybe Joleon Lescott IF he brought that awesome forehead with him.
Yeah, if there's any defender I may take instead of Toure it would probably be Kompany.
An out and out badass world class CB may improve our first team more than any midfielder. Though Toure, the more I think about it, would massively change everything we could do line-up wise. I think that's why the original choice was so obviously him. Only his age would make me hesitate to take him over any other midfielder period.

Toure easily, its not a position of need but he's that good.
If the other option was a central defender of even somewhat similar ability I'd take him because that's out biggest need. I'd take Kompany over Toure in a heartbeat for our team.

Thiago Silva. We need help on the back end like woah.

Iniesta. Would that he had been born in Nebraska.

Any player in the world? Id take Thiago Silva, or maybe Luis. A young CB would be what I would want so maybe phil jones or either of the two Germans.

foreigners to the USMNT,
I'd take Messi and CR7 over Rooney for sure, but I wouldn't automatically take RVP or Gomez over him. Same tier, to me.
So who was sitting on the sideline for their country? Im talking today... rooney is undesciplined.

He got one red card in a qualifying match, yet you're gonna treat him like he's Balotelli. Give me a break. I guess Gomez and RVP have never been suspended ever?

Mario Gomez?
He would be an awful choice for the USMNT over all the more creative forwards available in this hypothetical.
Gomez's a prima punta who is excellent at positioning and has a great touch finishing but offers zero creativity. He needs to be on a side loaded with attacking talent opening space for him to shine.
