Who would it be and why?

Rio Ferdinand

Ya Ya Toure

Jermain Defoe

_________

Please use only these three players. If you stray from these three players, you will be docked 2 internet points for each infraction, up to a maximum of 10 internet points. I'm serious.

This is too easy.

Regardless of our weaker position, you'd have to have a bit younger defenders at least the likes of a Chiellini etc to not take Ya-Ya, who's by far the best player of the three.

toure. he is the youngest, so could get more out of him. Oh and he can play cb, so you can keep bradley where hes at.

And that should be the only rt answer.

Not saying i would put him at cb, but he gives you the most versatility.

I thought about defoe esp him only being 1 year older, but we have promising strikers with speed.

I think it's pretty obvious who the best player is.

I chose those three because

1.) ya ya is my favorite player and probably the MVP (I know VK is prolly better) for the EPL champs;

2.) US Defensive Backfield is sorely lacking, and Ferdinand is a cornerstone defensively for the best team;
and

3.) Although he doesn't lead the EPL in scoring, I think Defoe has the best nose for the goal in the league and the USMNT has only one player even close to his level of goal awareness (Deuce, obviously).

I'd sure like to see three guys like that on the USMNT. Just imagine if you could sub off some guy and have, say, a hoss like Bradley move forward with the skill and awareness of Toure.

eta: I didn't want to say Rooney, Kompany, and Toure (is there a better midfielder? ). Wanted to use a couple good, not great guys. Maybe I should not have included Toure. Who else is a Toure-esque midfielder?

I don't follow Manchester United that closely but my idea is that Ferdinand is seriously on the decline.

That's why I was I was saying that if the choice is for a bit younger top defender like Chiellini etc ect it becomes a lot tougher.

DeFoe could certainly help us but I'm not sure I rate him quite as highly as you do.

You think rooney is best?, Id take messi, rvp, gomez, cr7 over him.

if you throw VK out there though, that is my choice.

You need a bit less broken down defender. I'd take Gareth Barry or James Milner before Ferdinand.

First name that popped in my head. But he's definitely top tier. Can't argue that. And I won't argue that the other guys you listed are better (don't know much about Gomez).

I'd take Messi and CR7 over Rooney for sure, but I wouldn't automatically take RVP or Gomez over him. Same tier, to me.

A good question may be: are there any defenders would you take instead of taking Ya-Ya?

of the three, Toure by a mile...

maybe its just me, but I think Silva is a better player than Toure... That said, Toure seems to shine in big games and is more versatile...

Vincent Kompany. Maybe Joleon Lescott IF he brought that awesome forehead with him.

I'll take Rooney over RVP and Gomez. Rooney can be a little underrated sometimes, if that is possible. He is a beast playing as the 2nd striker with someone good up top. You can build a team around him.

As for the original question, Toure easily. What a random choosing of the 3 players we had to pick from lol
