1000x better than the people who come on here and ask people to choose their favorite team for them.

This was the first soccer game I ever bought that wasn't just international teams. Trust me, Man City, whom I already followed, were absolutely turrible.

This was my first soccer game ever for any console...

I picked Arsenal because I first started watching the league back in the glory days of Henry, Bergkamp, Viera etc. They did, and still do, play the most attractive football in England thanks to Wenger. Also, they have a freakin cannon in their crest which meant ultimate badass to me. Unfortunately, I'm also pretty sure my support is the sole reason for our trophyless drought now.

Nope, I have Michael Owen to blame for my last few years of misery.

My Liverpool obsession began literally with the 02 WC. I was quite smitten by Michael Owen and El-Hadji Diouf in that tournament. And I learned that Owen played for Liverpool, and that Liverpool had just picked up Diouf from Lens. So I decided to watch Liverpool.

FIFA 2003 galvanized my love for the club, as I played solely with Liverpool. So while FIFA wasn't completely responsible, it certainly played a role.

WC98 was the first time I watched soccer. Two players who made an impression on me were Michael Owen and Zinedine Zidane. When I started watching the European leagues in 2003, my favorite teams were Real Madrid and Liverpool. After learning of Real Madrid's past fascist ties, I stopped rooting for them and became an exclusive Liverpool fan.

I chose Man U after touring the stadium and going to a couple of matches. My son attended their camp that summer (Man U Soccer Schools), its a week long live-in camp run by staff coaches. Been pulling for them ever since.

I was a big fan of Thierry Henry and Zizou after the 2006 WC (my first time in Europe [France]). Zizou retired and honestly, I got into FIFA so my first choice teams were France and Arsenal (also had Viera, who I loved). As I learned more about the game, the EPL, Arsenal, Wenger, etc, I fell in love with the Gunners. Also, Arsenal is an awesome name.

Certainly not me.

Does it really matter though? Being a fan is not about how you found your club it's about how you support your club.
