We weren't as talented as Belgium but I can honestly say I've never seen a team fight so hard. If this team didn't make you proud then there's something wrong with you.
We will be back and we will continue to put the world on notice. Don't sulk, be proud. We showed the world what determination and grit can do and in 4 years, we're going to shove it right up their fricking asses.
GO GO USA!!

I totally agree. People haven't grasped how talented Belgium truly is because their youth hasn't allowed them to mesh just yet. Don't be surprised at all if they are a favorite going into 2018.
This team IMO was the best we've had in the modern era (1994-present). We managed to get out of a ridiculous group even without maximizing our chances and without our starting 11. Got to tip the hat to Klinsmann and the old guard of this team (Beasley, Beckerman, Howard, Dempsey). They gave it their all and left us proud and excited about the future.
This is much different than 2002 and anybody who disagrees is ignorant as hell. That team absolutely maximized its talent and didnt have much behind it going forward. This 2014 team has set a great standard with a TON of promising talent ready to take over.

I don't give a frick about the downvotes. This team embodies the American spirit and there's nothing I can be mad at them for. I'm disappointed Wondo didn't score and that the beautiful free kick didn't finish with a goal but it's hard to be mad at anyone who fights so hard with the USA crest on their chest.

Seriously thought we were done at 105'
The last fifteen minutes were insane

Yep. Julian Green is absolutely cold blooded. Love to see that.

It was a good effort. Tim Howard bailed out that defense too many times to count. Impressive.

Proud as hell and loved watching them fight.
Also, in spite of Belgium clearly being superior, all it took was for Wondolowski to finish on a perfect opportunity for us to be looking forward to Argentina. That is a reflection of Wondolowski not having enough quality perhaps, but more importantly, it shows that the American spirit you cited can overcome a lot. I just hope that same approach to the game is not lost when we improve our talent.
Our team was impossible to root against this World Cup unless you were Ghanaian, Portuguese, German, Belgian, or Taliban.

Wondo could have won the game at the end of regulation. It was an amazing opportunity to score.

My biggest disappointment about the loss is that I don't get to root for this team in this competition anymore.

I'm as proud of this team as I've ever been being a US soccer fan.
Played with a ton of heart and represented themselves and our country proud. Not only that but they earned respect from a lot of other countries as well.

I started a similar thread and got a bunch of downvotes. Got a lot of commies on the SB today.

Bingo. I fell in love with this team. We're much closer than we thought.

Thanks for cheering me up with this post.
And, man, were you right about Jermaine and Fab!
I became a huge fangirl of those two.

This times 1000. I wish there was a loser's bracket for 8-16th place.
