dude Jurgen wouldn't release the starting line up a day before game 1, what in the world makes you think he would give away a piece of strategic information like Jozy coming back 4 days before a knockout round match?

I don't see Zelalem happening. It would mean he needs a US passport and thus forfeit his German one I believe. That would force him to get a British work permit to stay in Arsenal's academy, those are extremely difficult to achieve for young players and those without caps. Basically, if he wants to pledge his future to the US now, he's giving up his place in a great youth academy.

Wasn't there a report a few months back that he applied for this?

Technically Gedion would be a Ethopian-German with American citizenship. And he's a already pledged himself to the USMNT, just waiting to get his citizenship.

This isn't the first time a USMNT coach went after foreign born players. Every cycle of players there has always been some.

Jurgen being a big name in Germany certainly helped in getting interest from players like Green, and Chandler. I heard on NPR the other day they asked (I believe Brooks) what first made him think of the USMNT, and he said that he star struck when Jurgen called.

All of these German-American kids who are pledging to the US grew up, or had parents, who watched Jürgen win a World Cup. It's a very select group that has achieved that. His name carries a lot of weight to players.

Jurgen can have this job for life if he wants it. The guy is building a foundation for the future when the typical US fan is looking for immediate satisfaction.

Jabroni, everything you said has 100% been the holdup for him to play for the USMNT. The work permits in England are a pain in the arse. However, his father works in the DC area and is close to obtaining his American passport. According to some act/law Gedion would receive a US passport as well since he is under 18. Thus allowing him to become USMNT once he becomes a citizen. So the possibility of him playing for the US went up exponentially when his father began his pursuit of an American passport.
