I am admittedly not a big soccer fan, but I will be in Moscow for a wedding on June 10th and would like to catch a game for the once in a lifetime experience and also to avoid the need for a visa with the fan ID.

What is the best way to get tickets and not break the bank?

I don't know how but this won't be a well attended World Cup compared to many others so I doubt it will be very hard if you're just trying to see a game.

I was in Rio during 2014 and the Germany-France quarterfinal was there. Now, it was a late round and two superpowers, but it was like a minimum of $750 per ticket. I did not go to the match. If the US was in that match, then I would have went for it.

Group stage tickets I don’t think are too hard to come by, the knockout rounds will be harder.

yea I don't see this one being well traveled to

Russian gov't will be giving out loads of free tickets to the locals.

But for the OP the FIFA website has all the info.

Yup, if just going matters more (which is fine, especially without the US), then just do a mediocre group stage game. Anything with Germany, Brazil, etc. or late stage matches will cost $$$.

I'm only planning on staying maybe a week after the wedding, so early group stage games are all I'm looking for.

ETA: fun fact for the Kris Bryant fan, my cousin was the fan who presented his World Series ring to him.

They're waiving the VISA for the WC.

Tickets are usually obtained through lottery before the draw or based on team package. This WC shouldn't be hard to get since there are going to be some snoozer matches and this WC will likely have lower attendance compared to other European WCs.
