This past year is the first time I felt somewhat pessimistic. I started following soccer in 2008, and was always excited/ optimistic about the future. Alot of my friends thought I was crazy to think the US could become a powerhouse.

After the 2010 and 2014 world cups I was expecting progress, but we look completely outmatched against top 15 countries. I know we have more young kids playing in Europe now more than ever, but besides a small few, nobody has proven anything .

It feels like we're closer to missing 2022 than making it.

I dont know, strictly from a player pool perspective I'm looking forward to the next few years. (The federation side is still a mess)

But also, it's the first time in a while where I'm really not expecting anything. So that makes it easier to enjoy games overall.

Forward depth scares me, but I feel pretty good overall. It may take 2 years to get close to where we want to be.

The way this board hyped up Josh Sargent, I thought he would be starting at Bremen already.

I mean, he's still only 18 and has only been a true professional for less that a year. He's killed it with all of Bremen's youth teams, and should get his Bundesliga debut shortly.

I have faith that we will qualify for the World Cup. Little faith outside of that.

Doesn’t the WC expand to 48 teams this next go round?
It’ll be impossible not to make it.

This board hypes a lot of Americans. Usually way too much.

Nope, Qatar will still be 32 teams... It moves to 48 for 2026

To be fair, a lot of that shite is tongue and cheek... like, no one on here I don't really think Danny Mwanga would be leading us to glory right now.

It is bumming me out that Pulisic is having his issues at Dortmund, because he's the first player that we've ever had where I realistically felt like he could be a top 50 player in the world.

And he still can be that... he's the most advanced player we've had in terms of talent at that age.

It's also kind of impossible to predict what the team will look like 4 years from now. Our team is so young, anything can happen.
