MLS isn't that great
MLS is a great league. You should find and support and American club team(s), they're are tons to like about a lot of the clubs.
I've recently rescinded my Euro team fandom because it felt arbitrary and forced. I enjoy watching euro soccer, a lot, but I don't care enough about any euro team to act like it affects my psyche if they win or lose.

Alabamabuckeye:
The best thing to do, like a bunch of people said, is simply not get caught up polemics of one league vs another but just start watching more. I'd also suggest following some of the better writers like Michael Cox.
There's no reason to not enjoy European Leagues and MLS. The different schedule is perfect for following both.

Follow the players who are on the US national team.
You'll find a team that either they play on (or against) that you want to follow.
I started watching the EPL to watch Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra at Fulham in 2004. I saw Chelsea, who had pacy, skilled wingers (Robben, Joe Cole, Shawn Wright-Phillips.)
Anyway, that's my advice. Flip a game on, look at the rosters. If a US player is playing, cheer for his success. Your "attachment" should grow outward from there.
Start tonight with the Timbers and Earthquakes.
Chris Wondolowski, Alan Gordon and Justin Morrow are all recent US internationals. Jon Busch, Sam Cronin, Ramiro Corrales have also worn the US shirt, as has Portland's Sal Zizzo.

Awesome except Spurs have an American now, which is why they are my favorite.

You should start by not asking on a message how to pick a favorite team.

MLS sucks. That'd be like watching the Croatian national basketball league instead of the NBA, if you lived in Croatia. Yeah it's nice to support your home countries league as an added plus but if you're a real fan of the sport you want to consistently watch it played at the highest level. Also, the closest MLS team to me is Houston, which I have no more attachment to as a city than London. Following the dynamo is just as arbitrary as following Arsenal, and way less fun

You watch any college sports, brah?

"Real fans" get up at 6AM on Sunday so they can squeeze in the DVRd A-League game before the first EPL game starts.
At least that's what I tell myself as I sob quietly into my Cheerios, questioning my depravity.

That's different. Bc of LSU, I have an innate rooting interest. If I had no affiliation to a college then I wouldn't. When lsu isn't good at a sport I don't really watch. I'd feel different about the MLS if Nola or Baton Rouge somehow got a team. Same principle involved in US national teams qualifier, shitty product but I have an intense rooting interest. But again if I'm arbitrarily picking a team to be a fan of, why would I pick an inferior league?

So, you're not an actual fan of the school, you're just a shitty frontrunner and/or bandwagoner.
Lemme guess - Heat fan? Yankees? Man U?

But following both is the tits.

So if you follow the procedure of the poster above its simple...you should become a fan of Barcelona or Man U. And you'll probably fit right in.

Jesus ya'll are so offended, just realize the mls sucks, it's a miracle when they string together 4 passes. And for the record I watched like 90% of lsu basketball games the past two years even though they were godawful. My point was I don't watch other cbb games, like random big east games. It's different if lsu is good bc then other games have a bearing on them. Same with cfb, I watch teams other than lsu bc so many games have an effect on lsu's championship aspirations. If lsu wasn't good I would just watch lsu and I really wouldn't care about other games.

How many MLS matches have you actually watched? You just sound like someone who wants to fit in with the All-Euro Snobs.
Also, my point about college sports is that by watching college sports...you're consistently watching less than the highest level of a sport.
Like someone mentioned earlier, you don't support LSU...you support their teams only when they're winning.
Go with Barça. If you're more of the bandwagon type, I'd tell you to go with Bayern...they've at least already won their league title. (But Hendo and Tweezy would eat your lunch.)

Portland made 20 consecutive passes involving 10 players in the buildup to this goal. (the first video.)
