So I'll have to do some research on EPL, unless there's a team from the Isle of Man but I doubt there is.
As for other leagues, what leagues do Dutch teams play in? Maybe something with ReAL Madrid? I've spent a lot of time in The Netherlands so it would easier to pull for a Dutch team.
And my mom's side of the family is Danish while my dad's is Czech, any good teams or leagues from those countries?

Seriously, the problem with trying to follow a dutch team is that they are RARELY ever on tv. Only if it's a CL tie. Really it would be easiest to follow England, Spain, Or Germany.

I started following United in the mid 90's just when Eric Cantona was coming back from his suspension for kung fu kicking a Palace fan. That summer night in the Nou Camp when United scored twice in added time was the first time that I experienced the euphoria that is particular to the game and it hooked me big time.

You should roll with Newcastle. Best stadium, most passionate fans, beautiful NOLA type city, only club in town.

Good advice. On his Wikipedia page he's wearing a rugby helmet, didn't know that was a thing.
Feels a bit bandwagony but I can get over that. From what I hear Man U is like the Yankees while Chelsea is like the Red Sox.

Sweet, I'll give Newcastle a serious look. Are they a team known for flopping? Flopping might be my biggest problem with soccer, I can't stand that grown men and professional athletes would do that. But like I said, I'm here to give soccer a chance.

I have not seen Newcastle flop much really. At least not any more than any other team.
I'm not going to bullshite you, Newcastle is a bit of an underachieving team. They haven't won a trophy since the 50's and haven't won the EPL since 1927. They are being run pretty well right now and have had a bit of a resurgence and a lot of good young players so it's not bleak or anything, they finished 5th in the league last year. But all in all it's a great club that's very easy to fall into and become passionate about.

Serie A is much easier to follow in America than Bundesliga (and La Liga unless you're following Real or Barcelona). Bundesliga has almost no TV coverage and also pretty scant English website coverage of the league and most of the teams compared to the Italian league.

i watched soccer for a while, couldnt get in to mls but really enjoyed watching champions league matches back when you had to pay for espn2. fell in love with leeds on their run to the semis in 2000-2001 and haven't jumped off the train. we'll be back.

So in baseball terms they are the Rangers? Usually at least decent with moments of greatness. That's more my thing than jumping on with a Yankees or Lakers type of team.
As for the Dutch league (which I guess will be next to impossible to follow) I'll look at AZ but ADO Den Haag would be more my thing but I think they're a terrible team. I'll look at Feyenoord and Nijmegen Eendacht Combinatie too.
And I'm told I need a Bundesliga team too, so I'll look at Hertha BSC.
So to wrap this up, I've had a hard time understanding soccer leagues and how they relate to each other. For example, I know some multi national European league is happening now but I don't know what teams are playing. Is it the national teams or the city teams?
And what's up with players being snatched mid season for different games? Kyle Beckerman on ReAL Salt Lake seems to disappear every now and then to play on some other team. And then some CONCACAF team or something like that will come and play in Salt Lake. And by winning some MLS games, RSL somehow qualifies to play in an international match. How does all this work?
