He's just a hot-headed retard

I'm convinced that Marcelo keeps a running list of people who he feels deserve to be kicked

That's if you think about defending from a classical standpoint.

Defending is defending. While being about to maintain possession is vital to today's game, i think far too much credit is being given to Pique in this regard. To me, much of what you are praising him on is alot more to do with the players around him and the system they play in. For me, he needs to be a better defender to be considered World Class.

Gonzalo Higuain's Columbus Crew brother is a better finisher.

Alves was a late scratch.

That late goal on a brain dead play to make it 3-2 in the first match proves to be the difference. Barca looked much better in the 2nd half.

with ten.

Also, I am FAR from a Valdés tard, but he played very, very well tonight. The ignorant hate of him on this board is mind blowing.

Out of the blue:

-Modric looks smaller than in the Euros.
-Alba, best LB in the world (in case anyone was in doubt).
-Piqué, still not in prime form, but the comments herein about him are inane. I'd like to see some real suggestions about who could do better in the system he must deal with (let alone, with 10).
-Khedira is coming into his own. He is beyond solid.
-Iniesta is out of this world.
-Messi is Messi.

Valdes is good with his feet but he is not a very good goalie otherwise. Ronaldo's goal was pretty but a good goalie should have blocked that.

- When Lahm plays lb, he's better than Alba.
- I didn't say Pique wasn't good. I said I don't consider him world-class. Very few players deserve that title and I don't think he's one.

He is a solid keeper.

A rotund 'no'.

I'm not saying he is either. I just don't see anyone out there who is superior.

ETA Maybe a 2009/2010 Lahm, yeah, I agree.

I don't know if I'd consider Alba definitely better than Marcelo, much less Lahm. He needs to play at an elite level for at least a year before you start comparing him to legends.

See my ETA. Alba has arrived though, and 'elite' play will bear this out.

Valdes is a useful goalkeeper. I don't know if I'd describe him as a solid goalkeeper.

He is very good with his feet and is an excellent shot-stopper most of the time. He probably gets more hatred than he deserves, but he has a penchant for the high-profile gaffe, recently anyway.

Lahm has been named to the all tournament team for every international tournament he's been in, including this summer's Euros. I'd say his current form is still pretty damn high.

I think Alba is a very good player too. I was just trying to provide perspective.
