I can say he's not very good and also say he should be starting,

But he is very good, at least for an American. He's one of the top 4 players in our pool.

We should expect better based on what?

Based on the mere population of our country and the amount of money we've poured into development. We should be able to find 11 guys that can compete with other countries, especially when much smaller countries with fewer resources and population are as good or better. I realize it's more complicated than that, but we, as a prosperous and big country, have an advantage that we are squandering.

I want to blame altidore as much as the next guy. But you gotta remember he has had a shite midfield delivering no service whatsoever most of his usmnt career.

If everyone on the team was as bad as Jozy, we'd have qualified with ease.

I'm not his biggest fan, but he is NOT the problem.

Obviously yeah. Most teams that are full of average to above average players qualify. Most of those teams don't do much in the World Cup. It's sad that our fan base has been reduced to being happy with just qualifying for the WC.

Overrated by who? If anything he's underrated for what he contributes in terms of holding play, assists, and goals.
