Help me pick a Bundesliga team

I watched a fair amount of Bundesliga last year and something about Bundesliga is the most enjoyable soccer for me.
But this year I'm going to pick a team to support.
My MLS team is Atlanta United. Naturally this year I picked up Newcastle as my EPL team.
What I am looking for in a Bundesliga is the following:
Not a front runner. This knocks Bayern Munich out.
Knocks Borussia Dortmund out as well, correct?
Also it just feels like a tonof Americans have jumped on the bvb bandwagon with pulisic, and I don't want to be like everyone else
But I also want a team that frequently is televised in the US. Also important that they not be relegated any time soon so naturally they will traditionally be an upper half team. Are Bundesliga 2 matches even available in the US?
I don't want RB Leipzig. frick red bulls
really I've narrowed it down to m'gladbach, schalke 04, bayer leverkusen, and werder bremen
schalke has mckennie and bremen has sargent
any other thoughts on these four?

Schalke sucks, could have gone down last year. Go m'gladbach or werder bremen

I don’t think I can help. I’m more of the “club chooses you” mindset.

Plays a ton of young players. Has had some good Americans in the past (currently has Fabian Johnson). Let me know what you want to know about them.

Schalke sucks
They finished 2nd the year before and regularly qualify for CL
Last year was just a bit of a enigma.

yeah me too and I don't want to force a fandom
monchengladbach just felt familiar last year
I think I'm leaning that way
mainly just checking for red flags so that I don't go with a team that is guaranteed to hurt me like I found out newcastle will do only after the almiron deal

A lot of people hate Bayer Leverkusen due to being associated/bankrolled with the pharmaceutical company

Try Chelsea instead. Much much better.

Mainz 05. Entertaining brand. Juergen Klopp’s first gig as gaffer.

The atmosphere at BayArena.....zzzzzzzzz. So corporate and family friendly.

quote:Gladbach had a lot of success in the 1970s and 80's. The 2000's were rough (dropped down twice), but have been in the Bundesliga since 08/09. Haven't finished lower than 9th the last 8 seasons and have made a few title runs. Have gotten back on solid footing. Back in Europa this season. This will be the first season under Marco Rose (came from RB Salzburg). Should be a fun season.

Leverkusen is going to be very talented next year. Kai Havertz is maybe the best player in the Bundesliga and he’s 20
That being said, they’re called Neverkusen for a reason.
Schalke is a disaster

I like Stuttgart but they keep getting relegated.
Even with a starter on the World Cup champions.

Hop on the wagon.
I’d love to have another fan to chat with on here
I’ll give you all the reasons why you should be fan, but in summary it’s been really fun being a fan for the last couple seasons after almost getting relegated a couple years ago.
High scoring club (so fun to watch) and have had Americans the last few years (Johansson, Sargent) and even made a push for Jordan Morris a couple years ago. Kohfeldt is an awesome coach and the legendary Pizarro is still on the squad.
Can’t wait.

Schalke has McKinnie and a couple of young US guys at lower levels including Matthew Hoppe. He has scored 6 goals in the last 4 games for the U19's. Their manager David Wagner played for the USMNT.
