This might end up very anticlimactic. Japan had their chance with Costa Rica though.

They've only touched the ball three times in Germany's half so far.

Japan can't lay a glove on Spain at the moment. It's just shadow boxing

Japan needed to convert that one early chance - they are cooked. I agree they blew it vs the Costa Ricans.

Spain and Germany are worthy and one really shouldn't complain if they advance.

For all the early chatter about this being the "WoRsT WoRld CuP EvEr!!!11" it's actually settled down and we're seeing this play out as it should.

I've enjoyed the early wakeup and the distraction from work

For Japan it's just like USA v Iran - they couldn't even draw v Costa Rica, so they don't deserve to go through

Germany really should be attacking heavily... they need to get the GD in their favor in case Japan equalizes Spain

Costa Rica has had breakaway clear chances and they REFUSE to turn and look at the open runner.

You're rather suggesting a proactive blitzkrieg campaign by the German forces... to lessen their susceptibility to a kamikaze sneak attack by the Japanese Empire. Quite brilliant, reeeeeeally.

Japan will have to change their shape a little bit, match up in midfield and force those mistakes on Spain higher up the pitch.

This would be clever if it made any historical sense
