We really should have brought Pefok, though, if we were going
Relying on our outside backs to create chances by crossing in the box with no Pepi and Pefok to finish them whilst at the same time disabling ourselves with a false 9….the more you look back at our matches, the more evident GGG had an inaccurate offensive plan.

Yeah, totally cowardly of Gregg to involve the coaching staff and team leadership in a highly nuanced and potentially contentious decision which could potentially cause real harm to our efforts at the WC. #GGGutless
If you don’t like cowardly, what word is right for a manager, who chose the team and has sole authority for roster decisions, diffusing responsibility for a contentious decision by putting it to a vote?
What was the point of the vote anyway? If it was 9-8 to send him home, why didn’t he get sent home?

At what point will you admit that no matter what happened you would have been angry at Gregg about it?
If he didn’t involve the team leaders/staff you would have called him a megalomaniac who thinks he’s smarter than everyone else or some shite.

I can’t even disagree with this, and it’s the main reason why I want us to move on. They said, I saw a statistic that the majority of the second cycle managers made the knockouts/quarters. We could do a lot worse than Gregg, but I’m (maybe naively) hoping the USSF actually does a decent fricking search.

Can Tab be our coach.

Doubt it. Although a legend, he’s done his stint in assisting with Juergen, and didn’t do great coaching MLS.

Tab did great with our youth teams but was pretty shitty with the dynamo. He objectively has a worse resume than GGG.

Here’s the link to the full interview if you’re interested. He has some justified criticisms of Gregg (I think the line about the system being too complicated at times was spot on) but some comments are asinine, like not having a solid striker option or knowing our best CB pairing going into the World Cup. These things were dynamic throughout the last year as we had no strikers in form and our best starting CB options were injured. I do appreciate him calling out the federation though.
I think most agree that the GioGate info shouldn’t have gotten out but I found the below comment revealing:
quote:
In the case of Gio Reyna, am not sure what conversations he has had with Gregg Berhalter, I really don’t, I didn’t speak to the coaching staff or the player, it’s all speculation. I don’t know what the true story is, but I really don’t put any weight on this. Every coach wants to win games and every coach is going to put the guys he feels are going to help him win the game. If you're not in the game, I don’t think that’s the coach’s fault, otherwise you have to change the coach.
If you believe in what the coach is doing and he picks the players and you're not on the field, that’s a player’s problem not the coach’s. The coach wants to win the game, if you're doing something that can jeopardize the team from winning games and being the best it can be, the coach is not going to pick you.
