I propose we make one big thread (potentially sticky) that we can all discuss travel plans, prices, lodging, etc. since the time to buy is here or at least rapidly approaching.
I'll be there with some friends in Rio before the games start and Natal for two first round matches. Buying airfare soon.

Stay around the costal cities and don't go too far inland.

Agreed. Due to my age, not sure of how many of my friends can afford to go in this stage of their professional lives. Might end up traveling Hope Solo. Would rather just be with a big group (VIP package/chartered tour) so that I don't wind up selling limbs in a favela.

Yeah not many of my friends can commit to this. I've been saving for a year plus taking out some extra "school" loans. I think our group will be 4-6 people max.
Planning right now looks around 4000 per person for 2 weeks, but I'm planning for 5000 per person. Hopefully my miles can pay for some of the flight.

american outlaws has a package where you travel with all the other AOs and includes a bunch of transportation etc.

Care to share your breakdown? I was thinking about 4000 (conservative) for one week.

My friend has a spreadsheet with our estimates. We're meeting to discuss everything Sunday. I can update soon.
Right now most flights can only be booked up to a return date of 6/14. I'm planning 6/3-6/17 to hopefully cut down on Rio costs and leave there before matches start.
