This guys has crazy passing skills. I don't believe I've ever seen a US player be able to curve passes like him. This guy is going to create tons of chances for whatever forward is lucky enough to get to play with him.

I was about to say. I love Gedion. But that Myanmar highlight was very unspectacular.

Yeah, he looks the part.
Apart from his talent, it´s clear he´s been developed in a solid academy/club.
He ´basculates´ well, has great vision, is calm, fills spaces, alleviates/circumvents pressure, and can put the killer ball through.

There's a lot of Ozil in him at times, and then I'll see some Xavi (I'm not comparing him to those, I'm comparing skill sets, obviously on very different scales).
I'm not sure if he'll develop as a 10 or an 8, but he's obviously very versatile and is becoming more and more confident. I'm not worried about him not living up to the hype, because he will be a very good to great player for us. I do think uninformed or new fans will question his impact because he's not very flashy, but the rabona and the scoop pass are things I've not seen him do that may alleviate some of that, too.

His touch and passing ability is amazing for a kid his age. But I love how he always seems to be 1 or 2 moves ahead of the defenders. His anticipation is unreal.He sees things that defenses aren't aware of and it usually takes 2 passes to get the ball there but Zelalem sees it very early and has the touch, creativity, and ability to put the ball on the money.
And I love how Jurgen is handling him. Bringing him up slowly, letting him play with his age group, not pressing or pushing him, etc. Some people might get annoyed with that and want to see him on the Senior team, but Jurgen and Co are handling this the right way.
Hope he keeps getting bigger and better. Can't wait to see him on the pitch in the future! Same can be said about a lot of the youth players we have as well(CCV, Rubin, Hyndman, etc). Future is as bright as it's ever been for us!

Yea it's ridiculous. In games, he looks like he's just strolling through the park with a ball at his feet and whistling as he goes along. Just makes it look so easy.

I think the big thing that I see that he seems so comfortable on the ball. He doesn't force it too often and doesn't telegraph where he's going much.

He holds onto the ball too much and he slows play down unnecessarily too often, which might be a function of him being unaccustomed to his teammates, but his technical skills and body control are very good.

The 1 thing I want him to start doing is looking for his shot a bit more. There were a few times where he had the ball right on the edge or inside the box and he had space in front of him, but would go diagonal looking for a pass to someone on the wing. And I'm not saying shot the ball as much as he can. But when you've got space in front of you and are right at the edge or inside the box, take the shot every now and again.
And like you said, he slows down play too often at times. But it's just little things like that. And I'm sure he will improve at it. Once he gets some confidence,, I'm sure he will become more aggressive with his shot. And when he becomes more comfortable with his teammates and gets a good feel for how they play, he will know where they are at most times and wouldn't have to slow down play and look for them. He will get the ball out a lot quicker. We saw that in the 2nd half of the match last night IMO. Was a bit meow confident and comfortable with his teammates and was a lot more relaxed out there and became way more involved.
But the kids touch, technique, vision, ability, etc are at a very high level already.

I didn't notice anything particularly awful until NZ started leaving him large pockets of space to jog into. At that point in the game, most of it was welcome. Better than getting into a sprinting match with an otherwise clueless NZ team.

What an incredible talent. First time seeing him play "live" last night against NZ. At first I thought he played "slow(ly)", but it occurred to me that this guy is silky smooth with his touches and movement. Definitely has the DNA of a playmaker.
Not quite ready to break out the anointing oil, but I could see him one day turning into an American version of Riquelme.

I hate to be "that guy," but I think it a bit far-fetched to call a guy with 1 career goal and 4 career assists as potentially becoming "an American version of Riquelme."
