I don't get how flares can be considered racist? and maybe if Bonotelli would just step up his game and show everyone that they're not getting to him they will stop. And saying that you will kill whoever does something racist/storm off the field is just enticing them more.

It's not the flares that were considered but the racist chants, signs and the banana thrown when Balotelli was substituted. UEFA laid formal charges in the matter.
