Been powering through The Journey. Pretty fun. I chose to be a LW and I have found myself deployed as a LM the entire season though which kind of sucks. Few more random questions:

- what camera angle do yall play on? I like seeing the whole field but I find it a bit tough to defend and dribble when the ball is on the far side. Anyone else have this problem?

- having a hell of a time against teams that press like Spurs. Any tips? Can't seem to gather possession and do shite before being dispossessed

- might go hand in hand with the previous question but do any of you slow the game speed down or leave it standard?

Won the division 3 title in FUT and started 4-0-0 in division 2. Barring a monumental collapse, which usually happens around this time, I should make my first division 1 appearance

My team is stupid stacked so that helps for an average player like me, but I've finally found a formation and custom tactics/player instructions that fit my play style the best

Slow down the "passing" speed in your customs tactics. Especially in build up, this will keep teammates closer. Pass to the open man, don't look for the pinpoint through ball. I feel like there's a momentum feature in passing on this game. If you can string together 8-10 passes then someone is going to end up running free. Don't be afraid to pass backwards, just focus on passing to the open man wherever he may be. Narrower formations are better for possession than wide ones. Utilize 1-2 passing (hold LB while making a pass to send the passer on a forward run, then use the through ball pass to lead him into space). One touch passing also helps to get guys in open space. Again though, main thing is just pass to the open guy wherever he is. Utilize the left trigger to protect the ball

Ok I will try that out. Weirdly I find myself playing worse with a team like Barcelona than your run of the mill EPL teams.

I've found the same to be true. I think for me, if I'm controlling a Neymar or Messi or Ronaldo...anyone that can dribble and shoot, I'm more prone to running at multiple defenders and trying to get a shot off instead of just establishing possession and trying to wait for a good shot regardless of who is taking it.

I have (maybe had, I've gotten a lot better) a terrible habit of just trying to get forward as quickly as possible. If i could get a striker past the defending midfielders in the counter then I wasn't stopping until I got a shot off or got dispossessed. The problem is most of the time it was my 1 or 2 forwards against their 4 defenders. Getting the ball into the forwards quickly is fine, but I've had much better results lately by actively trying to slow the game down. Getting it into the forwards and holding it up until my midfielders can join the party. Now all of the sudden my striker is back passing to my CM and he can spray it to the wingers that just joined the party and have the fullback out of position. As you've probably figured out, a shot to the far post across the goalies face is OP and rarely gets saved from inside the box, so if you can feed your wingers a pass in the box, they're going to score.

I've tried everything formation and tactic wise this year but one of my constants has been leaving my fullbacks back in attack. I ditched that method and now I'm slaughtering people (leave the instructions at balanced and get high attacking WR fullbacks) I run a 4-3-2-1 now with attacking fullbacks (alba and Alves). So I have 3 forwards playing fairly centrally, 3 midfielders, and two fullbacks. If you go slow enough then the fullbacks join the attack and you create overloads in the opponents third and it's lead to some easy easy goals for me. Patience and possession is the key though. Your AI is NOT going to bomb players forward no matter what you have your tactics set to. Maintain possession in the midfield and allow the cavalry to arrive and it forces man-to-man marking that can easily be manipulated with 1-2 passing.

FIFA is still FIFA so you're going to get fricked over every now and then, but I finally feel like I've gotten a decent grasp of the best way to get easy goals.

Probably my problem of trying to just take on everyone with MSN when I play with Barca

Do you play on the default camera? Problems when the ball is on the far side or is it just my old arse getting older and not being able to see the detail as well?

I do play on default and there are times I struggle. It's just my eyes not adjusting right away and I have exceptional vision. I have to refocus and I'm fine

Everything gets real small on the opposite side of the field. I have trouble with it. Didn't have this issue in the FIFA before this.

Did some googling on it and some recommend using the Tele Broadcast setting and adjusting the camera height and zoom. Supposedly you can still see the field but the angle is better so the far side doesnt seem that far away

I'm a little into a League Two save. First time I've played in England in forever.

9 wins and 5 draws in 14 matches. 23 goals for, 3 against. Clear at the top by 4 points.

using the Tele Broadcast
Bought this game for $20 out the store about a month ago, have been hooked ever since. I've used the Tele cast since I've been playing really. For me, while it still cuts off part of the field at times, it shows the most of all the cams.

Anyone have a strong pro club going? 87 ST. Had been on pro clubs heavy for a while, but just starting to get into the Seasons mode. I think I enjoy PC a little more because of the online aspect, but starting to really enjoy Seasons as well. Favorite team so far has been OL-Lyon. Lacazette is deadly on the attack.

Played a bit on Tele Broadcast last night with Cam Height at 20 and Zoom to 0. You don't see as much of the field as the default but the camera is more overhead so when you are on the far side of the field you have a much better view of your players there. Need to play some more on it though to make sure I am seeing everything I want to see

I haven't messed with the height or zoom in the cam at all. Never thought to. Might have to play with that tonight and see if I can get more of the field in play.

Yea that's why I prefer that cam.

It's what I use. I'm pretty sure I read it in this thread way back. Definitely better. I also changed the ball color to a bright red.

Anybody else having the issue of not being called up to the national team on career mode?

I'm an 87 overall CAM starting every game for Man City but I've only been called up to one international game in 2 seasons.
In every other career I never miss a game for the US.

Started a manager mode with Swansea last night. How long until you become an international manager as well? And do the scouts sent to the other countries scout youth there too or just players in the league?

1. You'll get offers for smaller countries almost straight away

2. Just the league. If you want kids you have to hire youth scouts under a separate menu.

You need to hire a couple of youth scouts. Regular scouts as DS said only scout clubs in those leagues.

ETA - most clubs have some sort of youth requirement and your approval rating will drop even if you're winning games if youth is ignored
