The same can be said of Apple. But they manage to put out very high quality machines.

True. But I would say Apple has more competition in the tech world than EA has in the sports games market. (Yes, I know EA makes more than just sports games and I know they're all buggy.)

Oh I agree. But I guess part of me thinks they have a duty to their customers to create a decent product. Its just a professionalism issue. Its possible to create a reputable game and still make arse tons of money.

You would make even more cash. But this is a company that puts more money into advertising than development, so quality is going to be less than ideal.

You do realize you are in the minority with your criticisms of FIFA, correct?

This is like going to Engadget and reading all of the technies complain about a new phone release. They are the minority (which are typically very intelligent on the subject matter at hand), but these products are designed to suit the masses and they are not the most important customer segment.

These changes that you think are easy to make are most likely quite difficult to program into the AI of the game...constant strides are made each year, but there will always be room for improvement.

If EA doesn't turn a profit, then the game stops being developed. It is simple -- there is a cost benefit to all of the decisions they are making around development and you can only expect incremental improvements YoY.
