Cancels UCL tickets for people with foreign names
quote:
FC Copenhagen fans with non-Danish sounding names had their Champions League tickets cancelled because of the club's security policy, a Danish newspaper has reported.
Joy turned to anger for fans who purchased three-match packages - for the Group B home ties against Real Madrid, Juventus and Galatasary - but then received emails stating their tickets had been cancelled "for security reasons."
"This is the most degrading thing I have ever experienced," Copenhagen fan Masoud Barid told Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet.
"I have no relationship to any of the three teams Copenhagen are due to play. I just want to go in and support my team."

I don't get why they are afraid that people of Arab origin are going to go to FC Copenhagen games to actively cheer for a Spanish, Italian, and Turkish team and start fights with the Danish fans.
Bandwagaon Juve and Madrid fans aren't going to do anything dangerous, and I bet they are less than a quarter of the Arab fans trying to get tickets in the first place.

Wait, you think that's what they are worried about?
Where have you been the last 12 years?

Did you read the article? That's exactly what they're worried about.
Fans with Arab names are clearly able to get tickets to Superliga games, which is why they are surprised they can't get tickets for these 3 games.

"Safety is always our main concern when it comes to events at Parken (stadium). Therefore we make every effort to ensure that fans of our guests only have access to the away section," FC Copenhagen club secretary Daniel Rommedahl said.

Yea, he can't come out and say the truth. He would lose his job for it and they would probably face some sort of sanctions.

Then why are they able to get tickets for the SuperLiga games? I think it's based much more on a dumb fear of bandwagoners getting in minor scuffles than the first terrorist attack at a sporting event pretty much ever.

My guess would be they don't sell out the SuperLiga games so they will allow anybody in that's willing to come.
For CL games they have the luxury, in their eyes, of being able to pick and choose who they want to let in.
Honestly, I doubt they are really scared of anything (minor skirmishes or terrorists attacks) they just would rather Danes be there than Middle Easterners.
I'd be interested what sort of "dialogue with the customer" would cause them to overturn their cancellation. Are they going to quiz them on club history to see if they are a true fan or something?
