I didn't know Five for Fighting had more songs. I just assumed it was the famous one. Donovan doesn't strike me as someone who listens to anything other than what's on the radio.

Literally everything that I know about Five for Fighting comes from Landon Donovan.

The only thing that I know about Five for Fighting is that Landon Donovan uses one of their songs as his pregame hype song.

Another player who I think is just as interesting to psychoanalyze is Beaz.

Dude has been with Landon every step of the way. Came up at the same time, had a good 2002 WC at age 21, was the "second" face of the 2006 team. Fell out of form, but still made the 2010 team as a reserve. Was absent from the first couple of camps under Klinsmann, re-emerges this year when we are out of LB options, now captaining the B-team and will likely be on a fourth WC squad.

Not going to lie, I'm a little sad that era is coming to an end.

DMB is a bit easier, I think. He's made of glass and is everything that Eddie Johnson wants to be:

Adorbs.

And their hairlines receded together, too.

I had a sad the other night when the two of them were standing over a free kick.

Anyway, I thought the article made a sublime comparison to Kareem. That's actually the closest parallel I've seen.

Also, thanks for posting this picture:

I bought one of these jerseys a month or two ago, and couldn't figure out what number set to get:

Might have to go with The Beez.

You guys seem to have covered most of what I would have said about landon, so I have to ask: Bobby Convey has been on the cover of sports illustrated?

I had never heard that story about the collision he had with the T&T player. That's unbelievable though. Even though it wasn't his fault it would be hard not to think about the incident.

I think that story oversold the criticism of Donovan. North of the Rio Grande, it has been 90% praise and 10% criticism since the falling-out at Leverkusen and WC 2002 breakout.

Also, I will never forget this cover:
