re: Everton Question For The Whole SB

The question really comes down to whether this new owner is going to pump money into the team or not? I mean, he could run it like a business, in which case maybe he's able to derive additional revenues and gain some competetive ground on the top teams.

Or he could actually dump money into it like a Man City oil sheik, not caring if its ever returend to him.

Those are big big differences.

Billionaire or not, it really comes down to how much they are willing to spend out of their own pocket.

Liverpool has a billionaire ownership group, but they aren't operating at a deficit and funding huge transfers for losses out of their own pocket.

I see this putting Everton ultimately on close to equal footing with Tottenham, a Europa league team consistently with a better shot at champions league every 2-3 years or so. Right now we finish anywhere from 5-12, think this will move the club to 3-8.

Of course pool and Spurs have both now had title challenges the past few years so hopefully Everton gets in position to have an outside shot at that once a decade or so.

Oh no doubt. I was simply saying they could fill 2015-16 LC's role on a more consistent basis going forward.

Not saying Everton is on that level, clearly they're better historically. I was just saying that they could consistently play Southampton/Leicester role. The investment doesn't immediately make them top 4, but they can be like City...with a much more difficult row to hoe. They're obviously, historically speaking, a big club. They will face serious roadbumps on the way to success.

Again, agreed totally. I'm just saying that, due to the current climate in the BPL, they'll face a tough road. Chelsea and City got more money during their takeovers and, on top of that, didn't have to deal with the types of restrictions that Everton will face. I'm not saying they have no history, just saying they'll have a tougher time establishing themselves like Chelsea and MC did.
