I'll take a 2-2 draw given that bad start and our injuries. Kone actually looked like a decent player.

Agreed. It looked bad in the 1st half.

Martinez quote on the official Everton Twitter

No way we get a back up striker now, what with Kone proving Roberto right and all

i've seen nothing to indicate that is likely now, seems far less likely than 2 weeks ago

It was never very likely IMO.

We're obviously not willing to part with John Stones, even for 26m quid. Jose knows that the only way to get to a player like Stones if the club is not willing to sell, is to win him over on a personal level and get him to ask for the move himself.

The problem for Jose though, is that Stonesy isn't a primadonna, glory hunter who's solely looking for an immediate move to a club playing CL football. He understands that he's going into a key developmental opportunity at this early point in his career and it's essential that he play as often as he can for a club like ours.

It doesn't hurt when you get to partner with a quality CB like Jags either.

If Barkley has a good season, you'll have a really solid core of really young players.

Meanwhile, we need at least 3 new players, and we're getting jack shite. It's pretty bizarre.

Especially after we seemingly struck out on Shaqiri and Austin

I'm not particularly upset about not getting those two specifically, I'm worried about who we're eventually going to get. If Stoke is really paying 12+/70+ a week to Shaqiri, I can't necessarily blame our people for not wanting to experiment for that amount (and hence moving for a loan instead).

But will the money be there? It's unbelievable how little money the board parts with in comparison to other clubs in the league.

I really think I might be most worried about signing another CB at this point. An injury to Jags or Stones and we are fricked.

No joke, we've spent the least amount (so far) of all Premier League teams this window.

Sounds like Lennon is on.

Which is great, but doesn't alleviate the need for 3 more players.
