ESPN's World Cup coverage so far has been excellent

Glad to see ESPN went all out for their last World Cup. They get two of the most respected ESPN people in Mike Trico and Bob Ley and then use people who actually know soccer and former players. It's nice they did not just get a bunch of clueless American ESPN people to anchor the coverage. Hope the trend continues when Fox gets the coverage. Don't want to get stuck with Guss Johnson calling the games.

I agree. Surprisingly.

People dislike ESPN, but almost everything Fox does is way shittier.

My only complaint is Ballack, who adds nothing and can barely speak English. Apparently we've found the one German who can't speak English

It's pretty much the same as 2010.

I feel like Ballack could be legally retarded.

It's going to be so bad when Fox does it.

We are going to have Guss Johnson and Joe Buck calling matches

I haven't seen Ballack at all so far, when has he been on? I've seen Ruud and Gilberto Silva.

Better than the SA jingle

Fox is going to be awful and if they have the gall to put Johnson on the US games I can only pray for their rights for 2022 to be rescinded.

He was on after the England-Italy game. You might not have noticed because he didn't open his mouth at all.

Hard to disagree with this. I gave that show FOX Sports Live a chance, watched it a couple of times, and it was pretty awful, IMO.

Bob Ley called Roberto Martinez our "skipper." Other than confusing Roberto with Phil Jagielka, he's been pretty good though.

He's been on all day. I didn't even notice Ruud until after the England game.

Wasn't sure. Was playing in a dodge ball tournament earlier and only caught the England-Italy match so far.

He's been hard pressed to get in a sentence with Lalas around though.

Ruud didn't join today until after the England/Italy match.

I guess he replaced Lalas.

And you could see Roberto's brown shoes when they went over to the sofas - you were right! Awful.

I've been watching the games entirely and taken breaks between games, but when it has been studio coverage, I guess Ballack has taken a backseat. He was terrible in 2010. Martinez is very good though.
