I met the co-founders they mention in the article this past summer. I was doing an internship in Omaha and played pickup with some members there a couple times a week. Lincoln is actually the founding chapter and we had a scrimmage against them. The Korey guy actually lent me his shin guards because I left mine in BR. They brought ice chests of beer and stuff for us for after the game and we went to a bar in Lincoln that night. I don't think either of the two guys have missed a USMNT game in like 10 years. Definitely some cool dudes and this tale is definitely a csb.

In person???
frick me.
I have an 8 year streak going. As in, at least one match a year since '05.
I can't recall the last televised US match I missed, but I'd guess it was before the 1998 World Cup.

10 years was a bit of an estimate but I want to say it was at least since 2006 WC. I would say they are probably early to mid 30s FWIW. They could have also just meant WCQs, but I don't think they did. They were discussing their recent trip to Florida to go watch a friendly with Scotland as if that's a normal occurrence. Heard the details from a third person but asked them something relevant about it later on. Definitely extremely dedicated to it and they have jobs that allow them to do it.

Can't remember, like autonomous sales-related positions or maybe self-employed but not sure. Don't quote me on any of that, I just know they have an absurd streak going and I'm pretty sure that's about right.

I've met Brian a couple of times. He is decent friends with my brother and his wife.
Decided not to put too much of his info out there.
I doubt he would mind, but I don't know him well enough to decide for him.

I've met most if not all of them because of you. Good guys. I have to make the trek to the Azteca next time. It's a must.

Were they throwing bags of urine in that video??

Slumped in his seat, Brunken gazed out at the crowds "saluting" the passing convoy. Asked to describe his first Azteca experience, Brunken, drenched in Mexican urine, flashed a wry smile. "Intense." The bus erupted into one last song, the chorus still echoing in the night.
Fixed for accuracy

To be fair, there isn't much difference between Mexican beer and Mexican urine.
