Then why was the game vs. Brazil of epic proportions because the US played down a person?

We moved from mid to D. In your scenario, we move from D to F.

Because we played down a person for 60 minutes.

10 to 9 for 60 minutes is a considerably larger advantage than 11 to 10 for the 5-10 seconds it takes the other team to score and put the game out of reach.

Isn't the game out of reach with 2 minutes remaining and down two goals?

Also, 99 out of 100, the final sub has been made by the 87th minute.

If you are down 2 with a couple remaining and have a sub, sometimes teams remove a defender and add a striker. Never a goalie.

There are a lot more tactical changes like this that can be made. It just does not work do to substitutions and field size. It's not even suicide, it's beyond that

What exactly do you want to happen? You said pull the goalie. You're out of subs. How do you remove the goalie?

This. You'd be immediately fired. Even if it somehow worked.

FWIW, he's not talking about subing a striker for the keeper.

He is talking about pulling the keeper out of the net and forward.

Ok. Look at the size of the pitch. Look at how soccer is played.

Goalies are goalies for a reason. It's not very often a goalie is worth a shite in the field

But in say football Miles would be fired for punting on 4th and 22 from LSU's own 10 yard line down 7 with :45 left in the game and no time outs.

Just an interesting dynamic I noticed today between sports.

It would be more like going for it on 4th and 22 while making half of your O line receivers when the other team has like a 5 man rush

sometimes it works LINK

two goals, injury time, keep up for both

but pulling the keep is not practical, that is all that needs to be said
