If we took agoos in 2002 we should take ld in 2014 if he is playing. Agree with not starting him though. Still time for this situation to develop as well....

Twellman was a great MLS striker...so were Brian Ching, Carlos Ruiz, and Eddie Johnson for a season or two.
Wondo has 60 goals in three MLS seasons (most or tied for the most each year). None of those aforementioned forwards come close to matching that number. DeRosario is probably the best comparison for value to his team, and value to the league.

Hasn't Zusi all but locked up the Donovan role? He is less of a scorer but does well getting in balls from the right side and being a FK specialist.

He's done well filling in, but surely we can all agree he's not the difference maker Donovan is/can be. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I still think we're a much lesser team without a healthy, motivated LD, other things equal.
The good thing about him being out lately is that it's forcing other guys to grow. Maybe we'll see what Zusi can do against the likes of Russia, though this might be a camp of Euro-based players. Also seems like Gatt will get called up for that friendly, but I've seen at least one comment that makes me think we won't be that impressed by Gatt.

Everything I've seen about Gatt is that he's incredibly speedy. Of course, this pace could be judged up against the plodding players of the Norwegian Tippeligaen.
Zusi is very capable of scoring goals, but even better at creating chances. He's got five goals to go along with his MLS leading 14 assists. Look at his game against Chicago a month ago for a dominating performance.
If DC United are out of the playoffs by the November friendly, Chris Pontius could also get a look on the wing for the Russia friendly.

We get 23 roster spots, and he gets one if he wants it. Point, blank, period. His mentality has never been the greatest, but it's nothing new. As long as he's even decent and still wants to play, he gets a spot. It's not like you can't make a good roster with 22 players anyway. Cakes can do what he wants in my book.

I think it's "50-50" that he'll be healthy at that point in time. He would have to have a Ronaldinho-level drop in skill to get passed over.

Forgot I posted in this thread. Just to clarify, I didn't mean wait-and-see how his form is, etc. I was talking about his attitude towards playing. He always seems like he's unsure if he even wants to be there. That's what I think he needs to cut out.
