Our players are not in the same galaxy as France or Uruguay's. But we might could beat them.

I wonder if there is a corollary in American sports to count like that French class of 87. Supremely talented, yet supremely entitled players who sometimes look like they could be on the verge of greatness if not for their attitude. Nasri's done the best out of all of them, excluding Benzema, yet he's definitely been overshadowed by better Spanish playmakers (Cesc and Silva).

that's about 10% of the NBA at any given moment, and that number crept to like 50-60 % in the late 90s, which almost killed the sport

The NBA/ABA Cocaine years? I realize that's a wider net than 27 year old Frenchmen, but Marvin Barnes, Spencer Haywood, and all of those guys were train wrecks.

We could always win.
A lot of this talk of France is simply in response to the post ranking USA over France.
I would also add that France is also on completely different plane than Uruguay in terms of quality depth.
When Uruguay's top players like Suarez go down they have to bring in guys closer to a Johannson or Bedoya level younger player.

They definitely do. It's just the way they play the game over there. Great technique, but they don't have the soccer brain like the Italians. French kids will dribble around you but don't know when to make a square pass or move into space. They might as well be tactics illiterate.
