I think Messi is the best player in the world right now. Ronaldo (Brazil) and Zidane are probably the best two players of my lifetime.

That said, Cristiano Ronaldo may have the best all-around skill set of any player I've seen.

Article from last year. Pretty spot on re: Ronaldo imo. Messi/Barca have overshadowed CR so much, it seems like he doesn't get his due. Kind of surprising too, from the perspective of an American sports fan. Messi plays with two consensus top 5 players, and the rest of his squad aren't far behind, yet that hasn't harmed his reputation in the slightest.

That Ronaldo video was a fascinating watch. And it really is funny...Messi is a fantastic player and I guess this is football's equivalent to LeBron vs. Kobe...but point being could you really go wrong with either? Both are proven winners and proven producers. I think part of the reason people give Messi such an advantage is just a subconscious want to discredit C-Ron due to his demeanor IMHO.

Unreal. I was floored that he hit the second one as a half volley when the lights turned out half way through. Then he hits the next one with the lights out the entire time.

You have got to be fricking kidding me. I'm still in disbelief.

It's really hard to root for an a-hole.

I hate him because he is so god damned humble that it irks me.

Watching that Castrol performance thing now, and I just got to the lights out part. What impressed me most about it was that he started moving to where the ball would go BEFORE the guy had even kicked the ball. THAT is something special, I think.

It didn't come off as humble to me honestly, came off as supreme self confidence - like.. it's no big deal i just did that, I know this is what I can do.

For the record I don't have a problem with his personality I was just commenting that he seemed very reserved - couldn't laugh for more than a split second without pulling back into the shell.

Maybe a little, but I just think I'd take Messi first if there was a worldwide soccer draft.

That sports science about Cristiano (still have a hard time calling him Ronaldo) was amazing. I could probably watch a sports science about Messi's dribbling alone, too.

On a rate the plays bit on PTI, Kornheiser gave the shot a B+ and Wilbon gave it a B.

He is a model professional and has essentially reengineered his style of play over the course of his career

The guy who can just about do anything now used to be compared to fricking Ricardo Queresma

IMO, he is only an a-hole because he gives a shite, and I'm pretty sure that soccer is just about all he knows outside of looking pretty

Great post Joey. The guy is probably the most physically gifted player in the world right now. He probably runs a legit 4.4 forty and is around 6' 185lbs. His run on the weave course was unbelievable. He didn't touch one stick and blew the sprinter away.

i think he got a little lucky, honestly, but it's was pretty amazing anyway.... it looked like he tensed up, and turned away from where the ball was coming, sorta to protect that face, and ended up getting lucky and having the ball make contact with his shoulder....

but the two before that, were jaw dropping..... he kept a bead on the ball with the lights out! nice to know that even if an opposing team turned off the lights in the stadium, he'd STILL score on that arse!

the truth hurts, doesn't it..... you tellin' me you wouldn't trade your life for his?? the dude makes more bank than you can dream of, is one of the most revered in the world at what he does, and smashes 10 on the reg....

yeah, being a Kinko's office manager, dating "wholesome" chicks, and having to wait til payday to go grocery shopping has it's perks, right?

If I could be one person on this planet, then I would be CR7 without a doubt.

But Ronaldo doesn't play with top players right?
