He has scored in three straight USMNT starts, and his play has improved immensely.

Thanks. That makes me feel a bit better then. Last I really kept up he had gone really cold, but if he's playing better then let's ride.

Bielsa wanted absolutely nothing to do with Pochettino

No doubt about it, the culture is much better and players have bought into Poch

Much like the Pas-de-Calais in WWII, Venezuela was a sleight of hand to disguise the real target: Uruguay.

If we keep rolling with the 3-4-2-1 (which we fricking better) with the wingbacks being a part of the 4 and playing 2 tens under a 9, this is what I've got right now

GK: Freese... I guess. It's our weakest position.

LCB: Ream. Dude is still so smooth back there and we don't really have a left-footed CB challenging him.

CB: Richards. frick a friendly

RCB: It's a weird profile for this spot because Poch has favored a profile that's more of a physical RB. We saw Scally there... meh. Freeman seems to be improving with each game for club and country.

LWB: Need Jedi to get healthy and get back to his 2023-24 form. Arfsten had a good camp, still don't trust him. If we don't have Jedi, I'd slot Dest there.

RWB: If we have Dest, it's his spot. If he's playing the left, Weah enters the picture just because that's suddenly his only spot in this current formation.

6: Adams stay healthy... It's sketchy as frick after that because it's Roldan and Johnny who has yet to play a competent minute in a USMNT shirt. It's the most important position when we're going up against a team that out-talents us.

8: Wide arse open. People keep assuming McKennie, but he's been quietly mediocre as frick for us under Poch. Tessman, Berhalter and Gio are all gunning for that spot.

10's: Pulisic is the obvious lock, with Gio and Malik battling it out to line up next to him. Luna is in there too I guess, but I'm not sure I trust him against the really good teams.

9: Balogun is clearly in front at the moment, with Haji and Pepi behind and I guess Sargent is still in the picture. But as always, with World Cup 9's, it's about who's hot at the moment. Maybe Edson Buddle fights his way in.

How bad are we at GK that this guy is starting

Too slow. Will get exposed vs quick attackers.

Johnny

Just like Tessman, needs to be quicker mentally. Has the skill but the mental side is the issue

The positive:

Uruguay were missing some players but had a lot of top notch players starting. Barça, Man U, Flamengo, etc. The difference with the US.....passion. This group gives a frick. You could tell vs Paraguay. I don't care what club you play for, you have to play for the badge.

We said this 4 years ago and he played every minute without putting a foot wrong.

I'm not going to go back and forth with you. You think he's ok, I don't. MLS yes, top international football, no.

He has slowed down more in those 4 years.

But currently who replaces him? As long as we have speed to cover around him.

I mean he was stationary before, so hard to get much slower.

This is where the back 3 and a healthy Adams help. Ream’s calmness and distribution out the back outweigh his tortoise-like abilities, especially if the replacements are Trusty or McKenzie

I think Poch has proved a lot wrong with his tinkering.

We also have 4 more friendlies left.

Wonder how many of those Uruguay supporters in the crowd took off their jerseys to reveal a US one underneath.

I mostly agree with your 11 listed here. Wes had a good game last camp as one of the 10s and I think he would be good playing next to Adams as well. Tessman has shown he can really play that 8 role as well.

As for RCB I am in favor of Freeman over Miles there but I dont love either option
