A top Louisiana boys high school team would not beat the US national team. A national champion caliber u18 club team would be a different story.

I disagree. The size and speed factors alone would make up for any technical deficencies.

im extremely confident my old high school team would rape every women's world cup teams. we did have like 6 division 1 players though (i was not one of them).

There is no doubt. Speed, size and physicality wins in sports.

Boys high school vs. Women's pro would favor the males in just about everything.
I could see soccer being an exception. The height advantage is minimal compared to other sports. More importantly, high school soccer is not a sport typically played by the top athletes in a class. With a few exceptions, the top tier of athletes will play basketball, football, baseball, and depending on the school, track over soccer. There is incredible discrepancy between the first and worst starter on a 5A championship calibar high school team.
Sure, their best player is a good athlete who could physically dominate a world class female, but the 10th best player on the team would get clowned by a world class female.

you're better than this.
Speed size and physicality win in the olympics and the combine. In team sports, it's a combination of those with very refined skills.
There's a reason why the fastest guys in the world aren't all NFL receivers. It's why Chad Johnson gets embarrassed when playing with guys in the MLS.
Unless the athleticism is so so far ahead of its opponents (which in this case you're underestimating) then skill reins supreme.
I'm not saying you're completely wrong in this, rather you're oversimplifying and placing way too much emphasis on athleticism.

I haven't read all 6 pages but I'm telling y'all the athleticism of the boys would win out against technical skills the women have. The boys would have to just play defense and a little long ball.

We're comparing men to women here.

We are talking about an elite HS team. Jesuit in NOLA would destroy any womans team. My sister is ten years younger than I am and she was/is a great womans athlete. All-State in three sports and currently ranked in the top-ten of amateur tennis players in the south. She can't beat me at anything.

we're comparing boys, to world class women here. Little different
Posted on 6/26/11 at 10:25 pm to glassman
boys teams have played elite women's teams in the past
i can't find any good solid links, but you all can search these and verify whatever is said at your leisure. i'm sure that bigsoccer has other such encounters archived somewhere.

im thinking only a few teams per state would probably actually beat the top women's national teams. in louisiana, maybe one or two teams. in georgia, maybe 3-5. and so on.

For example the Jesuit NOLA team have been playing together on select teams for years. They play year round and play as a school team. They are always one of the top teams in the country. They have all been playing together for longer than most women's WC teams.

I've coached women at or near that level, and yes, a top U16 boys team would cause them plenty of trouble, and a top U17 team would wipe the field with them.

I'm not talking about a shitty high school. I'm talking one full of select players who are composed on the ball AND athletic. My high school team played a 3-5-2, that would completely shut down a women team's midfield and as long as the defense didn't go Johnny Bornstein, I think we'd win.

I don't disagree that the best HS teams prob could do some damage. But the vast majority i think get whomped
Posted on 6/26/11 at 10:29 pm to rockchlkjayhku11
Louisiana on average, probably Jesuit and Lafayette High, probably not the current Lafayette High team. They play some ugly soccer and rely on athleticism.

to be fair, a top u17 club team is going to destroy almost every male high school team
