While I'm sure that there are other factors, it's a huge stadium, and the Spanish play really, really late. It's not a great combination for impressive weekday attendance.

I'd guess that weekday matches are probably a pain in the arse to get to in Barcelona like they are in Rome so you only get big turnouts for legitimately big matches.

I looked up possible transportation issues because I was curious and am procrastinating. This game ended at midnight local time. The Barcelona metro stops running at midnight on weekdays.

I read an article where Pedro was saying that they start matches at 10pm sometimes... I was surprised..

yea the 9pm local kick offs a crazy. Then again when you don't have to be at work until 10 and take a 3 hour lunch with a nap its all good

I always wanted Roma weekday matches to kick off even later than that because leaving home at 7:30 or so to get to a match that starts at 8:30 pm puts you in rush hour traffic.

Yeah no kidding. Those people don't eat dinner til 10 PM and you see little kids staying up with their parents past midnight.

It´s normally 08.30, some 08.00. Two hours for lunch, typically 13.00 - 15.00, 13.30 - 15.30, or even 14.00 - 16.00).

Meh, 9 PM weekdays, very few, unless retired, eat at 10 PM.
The weekends however........ 10 PM is kind of early.

i adapted quickly to the Seville lifestyle when there. i dig the 1400-1600/1700 siesta. perfect for vacation after a nice full tapas lunch with some wine or cruzcampo. take a little post lunch nap then you're re-energized for the rest of the night!

Kids eat a huge bocadillo (an elongated sub type sandwich) normally at about 5PM. They´ll also eat one at maybe 10.30AM or so (breakfast is light there, hence the word ´desayuno´, which is exactly the same in English. To break your fast----not stuff your face).

I had an American breakfast yesterday (since I was going nowhere), and it makes me lethargic.
A Spanish breakfast for me is a piece of fruit (if you´re not making fresh orange juice), bollería (pastry or small pastas), a yoghourt, and a big coffee with milk.
Come 10.30 or 11.00, another coffee and a small warm sandwich or similar (as the hunger then is pretty strong).

Yeah any meal where you eat a lot is going to make you pretty sleepy.
